God Of War III on Playstation 3 Review.

God Of War III represents Playstation at its very finest. From the rip-roaring spectacle of the opening sixty-minutes, right through to the ultra-stylish conclusion; Kratos’ last hurrah is a marriage of refined combat mechanics, perfectly prepared puzzles and the kind of technical showcase that has you ripping the head from a water horse, while riding a gigantic other-being scaling Mount. Olympus. Unforgettable.

God Of War III’s Opening 60-Minutes Are The Greatest Of All Time – “Twiggy” The PushSquare Opinionator

Screenshots Don't Even Do It Justice.

I’ve been searching the archives: Bioshock? No way. Goldeneye? The bungie jump was cool. Shenmue? “Fuku-san!”. No matter how deep I dive, I can’t find an opening as strong as God Of War III’s. A sixty-minute period in which everything that makes the God Of War franchise a success is crammed, turned on its head, and amplified to 11. As of next week, when people talk about Playstation 3, and particularly the power of the system, I hope they have flash-backs to the opening sixty-minutes of God Of War III. They are unbelievable.

Stig Asmussen: More To Come From God Of War III Engine

Mmm... Sony Santa Monica Are The Gods Of Visuals.

Mmm... Sony Santa Monica Are The God Of Visuals.

God Of War III’s director Stig Asmussen reckons the engine powering the game is only running at “50%”.

He told Destructoid:

“Well, I think our studio will use this engine again,” he said, speaking to Destructoid at GDC this week, “and it’ll get better. And I think we’re probably about 50- or 60-percent at it right now. I think there’s a lot more we can do with it.

“I think individually our animations are incredible,” he said, “and our animators are incredibly talented. But I think we could make our system technically better, in the way we blend animations. And I’m pretty sure that we already have the code to do that, and we just didn’t implement it in God of War III because it came in real late.”

God Of War III’s out next week, but Sony Santa Monica are already working on new projects.

Sony Santa Monica Are Turning Their Attention To New Projects.

A week ahead of the launch for God Of War III, Sony Santa Monica’s John Hight has confirmed to MTV that the company have two other projects undergoing pre-production at the moment.

“We’re jumping right back in, I’ve got a small concept team working on our next product for us.

“We’re actually gonna do something different this time, we’re gonna have a short-term concept, a game that we hope to turn out.

“But then, we have a much longer term concept team going through, two teams going on at once.

“One with a kind-of long-range, ‘Here’s what we’re gonna do years down the road’, and then another one that’s, ‘Here’s what we’re gonna do as the very next project’.”

Expect to see something pretty different from Sony Santa Monica a bit sooner than expected.
