Kratos Might Not Have Been Quite So Hard.

Imagine the scene: you’re climbing up Mount Olympus on the back of Gaia. You’re in pursuit of Zeus and the Gods of Olympus. Gonna rip their heads off and stuff. Ahead of you, a legion of skeletal enemies approach you. You dip into the sack resting uneasily on your shoulder and… Lob pixie dust at them.

Well it could have happened, as the iconic design for Kratos nearly wasn’t so… iconic.

One of Sony Santa Monica’s artists, Ken Feldman, has told Official Playstation Magazine (via CVG) that, yo, Kratos nearly wasn’t so cool. In fact one design pitched him as a monk with a baby.

“I think it took us a year-and-a-half to come up with Kratos,” said Feldman. “That was the most difficult thing. Everything had to be based around this character – the story, the weapons. The first guy we came up with was a little elf character, he was hysterical. His animations looked like Disney.

If we remember correctly, there’s a little segment on the design of Kratos included as an extra on the first God Of War game. If you want to know more, you might want to hit that up.

VG247 are reporting this morning that SCEE intend to release the God Of War Collection separately in the UK, outside of the God Of War III Ultimate Collection. They were coy on dates however.

It really feels like SCEE have dropped the ball with the God Of War Collection. Not only is it effectively a means of printing money from a game already released, but it serves as an excellent promotional tool for the upcoming God Of War III. We’d imagine you’re not going to be able to play the Collection before the release of God Of War III unless you import.

Expensive. But No Less Rad.

£110 sounds expensive but, let’s take a breather and remember what you’re getting in the God Of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition: three games (God Of War III, plus God Of War I & II remastered), a ton of extra PSN content (skins, characters, challenge modes), a full length documentary, two audio CDs, exclusive artwork, and a replica of Pandora’s Box. Phew.

So, SCEE has confirmed that the full God Of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition package will cost £110, with no plans to bundle just God Of War III with Collection.

Still, if you feel that price tag is justified (we kinda do), it’s available for pre-order here. No date has been confirmed.

SCEE has announced a lovely little God Of War III collector’s edition heading to Europe this March. The pack includes, obviously, God Of War III and the recently US-only God Of War Collection among a host of other lucious goodies.

Kratos Is Back In HD, But He's Locking Up For A Few Unlucky People.

So, you’re all excited, you’ve bought Sony’s God Of War Collection and it’s really fun but – oh shit, it’s frozen. That’s the problem some people appear to be having on the Playstation Forums. While the issue doesn’t appear to be widespread (and is mainly only affecting original launch 60GB consoles), it’s probably something Sony will want to address as soon as possible.

We’re waiting on official word from Sony.
