Fat Princess Is Planned For Release This Summer.

Fat Princess Is Planned For Release This Summer.

New details on upcoming PSN exclusive Fat Princess have been revealed at this years GDC. “The Legend Of Fat Princess” is a traditional story-led quest type mode explaining how “cake came to the realm” (really!), which sounds most intriguing. Also included is a “Gladiator” mode where players take a fully levelled character and go up against waves of enemies.

A summer release is planned, which as you can tell, is a bit later than the planned February launch.

GDC ‘09: Kojima Teases Raiden And “The Next MGS”

Will Raiden Star In The "Next MGS"?

Will Raiden Star In The "Next MGS"?

Did anyone really belive that Metal Gear Solid 4 was going to be series mastermind Kojima’s last? We didn’t. It seems we were right to doubt him too. Snake may be gone, but Raiden lives, and while there is a subprotagonist, there are always sequels to be made. Cue: Kojima’s “Mission: The Next MGS” and a tiny picture of Raiden in the corner.

Announcement will be made at E3. We’re most curious about what platform Kojima will release the game on. We can’t help but think if he decides to put the game out on XBOX 360 or Wii, it’ll be a step down due to technical limitations.

GDC ‘09: Sony Encourage PSN Exclusivity

Burn Zombie Burn Is The First PSN Exclusive To Be Supported By The "Pub Fund" Scheme.

Burn Zombie Burn Is The First PSN Exclusive To Be Supported By The "Pub Fund" Scheme.

Sony have today announced a scheme that may ensure a slew of new exclusive PSN content. The scheme entitled “Pub Fund” has Sony matching the development costs of PSN exclusives.

“We’re looking for a number of great games, and in return for exclusivity we’ll match your development budget with guaranteed royalties,” Sony’s Chris Eden said.

This is not Sony buying your product,” Eden noted. “You’ll be the publisher, you’ll own the IP and you’ll control your product. This is assisting you to make your next step from developer to publisher.”

The first game to take advantage of the Pub Fund deal is Burn Zombie Burn (look out for our review later) which was released yesterday on the PSN. The strategy sounds like a win-win for Sony, developers and gamers. Hurrah!

LittleBigPlanet Scooped Even More Awards At GDC '09.

LittleBigPlanet Scooped Even More Awards At GDC '09.

LittleBigPlanet continued its award winning success by scooping four awards at last nights Game Developers Choice Awards. The game scored brownie points for its innovation, technology, game design and debut. The latter of which caused Media Molecule’s recipient to claim, “Best new debut? We’ve been doing this shit for 20 years!” Sackboy’s parents were probably a little worse for wear by this point.

Fallout 3 scored big as both game of the year and best writing. God Of War: Chains Of Olympus also gained a gong.

GDC ‘09: Super Stylish Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Trailer Confirms November 10th Release Date

Embedded above is the first trailer for Infinity Ward’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Rather swish it is too, using clever use of sound to depict a raid on, what appears to be, an airport security line.

Sadly no gameplay footage or storyline details, but there is a date for your diary. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on November 10th in the US, and while there is no firm date for Europe, we presume this game is going to get some kind of simultaneous release.

Reckon you’ll be waiting until E3 to hear more about the game now though. Enjoy the trailer.

Kojima Wants To Make A Rom-Com.

Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the Metal Gear Solid series, has made an announcement regarding his next video game. That announcement is: to be announced at E3. That’s right, Hideo Kojima has announced an announcement. There are few egos that could pull off such a stunt but, well, Hideo just about gets away with it.

He also talked a little about himself, claiming he’s not the big “action man” people think he is:

Well, to give you maybe a surprise, people might think I love action games and I love shoot ‘em ups and I kill people all the time, but that’s not it. I really like other [genre like] romance… I do, of course, like the comedy… Of course, there is no comedy genre right now, and I’m always wondering how I should re-present this — which I don’t have a specific idea yet, but I’m always thinking about that as a new genre.

Confirmed: Hideo Kojima’s next game to be a Rom-Com featuring the voice and likeness of Hugh Grant.

GDC ‘09: God Of War III First Gameplay Leak

The first gameplay footage of God Of War III has leaked to the t’Internet, despite Santa Monica insisting that no one should record the gameplay. The shakey cam footage shows Kratos locked in a dark room surrounded by familiar minions.

It’s particularly early footage, and the environment Kratos is fighting within is likely to be a mockup demo designed to show off the game’s gameplay. It looks like it plays a lot like the previous entries in the series, and giving the success and critical acclaim tied to those games, well, we’re happy they’re not trying to rapidly change the formula too much.
