In DJ Hero 2 Please Can There Be More Electro & Pop. Thanks.
There’s going to be a DJ Hero 2 folks. Rejoice. We really liked the first game y’see. Even if it did bomb at retail. Anyway, there’s absolutely a new game on the way Activision has pretty much said so:
“In 2010 DJ Hero will be hosting an exclusive Listening Session, providing one lucky undiscovered musician the priceless opportunity to have their winning song mixed, mastered and featured in a future installment of DJ Hero,” said the company at MIDEM 2010, a music trade event.
VG247 have the full PR garb. We’re excited.

DJs: Cooler Than Rockstars.
Top DJ David Guetta [and the mastermind behind tons of amazing French house - Ed] has hinted he’s working on a follow-up to DJ Hero.
In an interview with Kelowna, Guetta said, “I think it’s amazing, this game [DJ Hero], and I’m going to work on the No. 2 version. It’s a really crazy game,” he said.
“After ten minutes, you get the rush that a DJ gets after ten years of practising. I have fun with it, but you know what? I can’t go to the maximum level. It’s too difficult for me. It’s crazy.”
Despite DJ Hero selling like crap, we thought it was fabulous game, and alongside The Beatles: Rock Band, the best music game this year.
One request Freestyle – more electro, dance, house, pop and D&B. Less dodgy hip-hop. Not that we don’t like hip-hop. Just those tracks were kinda the most boring.

Any Time We See Decks, We Think Of That X-Ecutioners Song.
If you’ve been sitting, waiting, deliberating over whether to pick up another DJ Hero controller – now you totally can. Available via the Guitar Hero Store, dropping $70 will earn you a standalone deck for local multiplayer action. Obviously this is still ridiculously expensive, but hey, the game’s a lot of fun so we can’t blame you for taking the plunge.

DJ Hero on Playstation 3 Review.
DJ Hero inserts new-found vigour into the stagnating music genre, but its niche concept, high price-tag and challenging learning curve will, sadly, drive many away.

DJ Hero Is Apparently Not Everyone's Cup Of Tea.
Analysts like to talk about sales a lot. Heck, it’s their job. A job that pays Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital Markets to tell Gamasutra that DJ Hero’s sales are “modest”. Given the UK figures, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear that. Top marks Colin — your profession continues to state the bloomin’ obvious.
Sebastian goes on to claim that consumers are “showing price sensitivity” towards games with price points higher than $100. Have a Smartie Colin.
Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz reckons consumers are getting tired of rhythm games. It’s going to be interesting to see how Band Hero and Lego Rock Band fare over the coming weeks. Does anyone care about those games? We don’t. At least DJ Hero was different.

So The New DJ Hero DLC Might Be Expensive, But It Looks Fun.
If you’ve got DJ Hero already, you might be tempted by some new DLC which is, well, available today. Be warned though, just like the main game, the DLC is rather pricey. At $5.99 you’ll get two mixes – “All Of Me” by 50 Cent featuring Mary J. Blige vs. “Radio Ga Ga” by Queen, and “DARE” by Gorillaz vs. “Can’t Truss It” Performed by Public Enemy – under the guise of the “Extended Mix Pack 01″.
Activision blame the inflated costs on the extra work/licensing that goes into these mixes. Which is fair. But still, with the average Guitar Hero song at $0.99, we would have preferred prices in the $3.99 ball park.
Alas, the mixes actually look rather good, so we’re probably going to buy them.
