Batman: Arkham Asylum Won The Best Game Gong At The BAFTAs, Despite Uncharted 2 Taking Home Four Awards.
There’s something a little iffy about Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ denial of Best Game during last night’s video game BAFTAs. Despite beating everything to win four gongs at last night’s awards show, Batman: Arkham Asylum managed to walk away with the Best Game gong — despite being beaten by Uncharted 2 in numerous other characters. Don’t get us wrong, Batman’s a great game, but we can’t help but feel its British development roots allowed it to take the award it really probably shouldn’t have.
We’ve got the full list of winners after the jump, with honourable mentions going to flower and LittleBigPlanet PSP, who took the Artistic Achievement and Handheld awards respectively.

thatgamecompany Made The Amazing PSN Title flower.
thatgamecompany’s Jenova Chen told atendees at GDC last week that they shouldn’t expect a follow-up to hit PSN title flower until 2011.
Speaking to Kotaku, Chen claimed, “2011? We’re not going to have a game by 2011.”
On the GDC award his company won for flower, Chen stated it was not a concern to him.
“For a while… I was caring about the awards. But we’ve got this award before, so. What I care about, actually, is people that played it and how they felt about it.”
No more thatgamecompany excellence until 2011? Disappointing… But also exciting.

#2: flower on Playstation 3.
We said: “If you gave us a week we could never fill it with enough words that do flower justice. Thatgamecompany have created one of the most beautifully thought-provoking masterpieces we’ve ever experienced in the medium of gaming.”
Twiggy’s thoughts: “I had a moment playing flower where I felt truly liberated. As the world passed beneath the trail of petals in front of me, I shivered and declared to those around me that the game was probably one of the best I’d ever played. I still stand by that today. flower was so good, it stayed in our preliminary game of the year spot for roughly 10 months.”

If thatgamecompany Can Better This We'll Shed Tears Of Joy.
We’ve written this once but we’ll happily write it again: flower is still our personal game of the year. thatgamecompany’s master-piece instilled feelings in us that we’ve never felt before whilst playing a video game. It was a momentous piece of game design.
Speaking at the Develop conference in the UK, thatgamecompany’s Jenova Chen described the company’s latest work as “a natural progression”.
While there were little details to go on from his discussion on the game, he did state that concepts take years to go into full production. So perhaps it’ll be a little while before we actually get to see anything of the game.
