Final Fantasy XIV Will Not Have A Beta On The Playstation 3.

If you were hoping to get some early access to the upcoming Playstation 3 Final Fantasy MMO then you’re going to have to wait a little while we’re afraid. There will be a beta, but sadly it will be PC only, as confirmed by Final Fantasy XIV director Hiromichi Tanaka.

The beta will start out closed with just 10,000 people but will eventually open up and could be running at full capacity by Summer 2010.

We know very little about Final Fantasy XIV other than it’s on the Playstation 3 (and PC) and is an MMO. Still, this trailer gives us a little artistic context, showing some of the world Eorzea. Apparently the place has lots of food. Oh and trading card games. Very, very important are trading card games.

Did we mention that this trailer has really epic music too? ‘Cos it does.

Sony’s semi-shock announcement from E3 ‘09 was Final Fantasy XIV. Here is the game being shown off at GamesCom. It looks very much like an MMO to us. To be totally honest, we have no idea what’s going on in this video or how it compares to Final Fantasy XI (the previous FF MMO). All we know is that the graphics look pretty.
