We Know This Boxart Alone Will Send Some People Into A Frenzy.

Presumably in a move to tie in with the American release of Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete this June 2nd, an ESRB search has popped up that SCEA will be publishing Final Fantasy VII on the PSP and PS3. Europe will probably follow suite when we get the movie in July.

Expect this announcement to pop up somewhere at E3.

Sony Once Again Dominates In Japan.

We speculated yesterday that the Playstation 3 had taken a massive sales boost thanks in part to the release of Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete. Those preliminary figures were actually beaten, with the Playstation 3 managing to shift a whopping 62,527 systems last week. In second place? The PSP with 40,065. Nintendo were down once again, with even the DSi failing to compete.

Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete's Blu-Ray Release Could Have Caused A Massive PS3 Hardware Spike.

For now we’re chalking this down as speculation but until we get the actual figures we suppose it’s best reporting on the preliminary: the release of Advent Children Complete looks like it has pushed Playstation 3 sales figures in the region to somewhere near 57,000. The week prior to the blu-ray’s release saw Playstation 3 figures at around 16,000 so it’s a significant jump if the reports are to be believed.

Of course, not only is the Playstation 3 one of the best blu-ray players on the market, it is also capable of playing the Final Fantasy XIII demo which is packaged in with the ACC blu-ray.

It’s been a good start to the year in Japan for Sony thus far. We’ll update you with the final sales figures as and when we get them.

Here’s an idea movie companies: bundle an exclusive, hotly anticipated demo with your blu-ray movies and achieve monumental sales. The idea has been declared fool-proof in Japan where the blu-ray of Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete sold 100,000 copies; with a little help from the Final Fantasy XIII demo it included.

The movie easily outsold any other blu-ray anime releases in Japan, 2008’s Macross F sitting in second place with just 35,000 copies sold.

When Dragon Quest IX got delayed, most people expected that would have a knock-on effect with Final Fantasy XIII. Not so, one lucky gamer who got his hands on the Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete blu-ray has already completed the bundled Final Fantasy XIII demo, which concludes in the above “Winter 2009″ teaser.

Japanese gamers should expect the game before the year is out.

Special Screenings Of FF: Advent Children Complete Took Place Over The Weekend.

Final Fantasy means money in Japan. In fact, we’re surprised Japan don’t replace the Yen with copies of various Final Fantasy games. Alas, this weekend in Tokyo Square Enix held private screenings for the upcoming Final Fantasy Advent Children Complete movie. It’s probably the only blu-ray release that will get its own bundled, special-edition Playstation 3 system.

Do you know what though? It’s not just the movie that is big news, it’s the demo that comes with it. An hour long Final Fantasy XIII demo will be included with the movie, aswell as a new trailer. Expect a Japanese sales boost in the coming weeks.

Japanese Gamers Will Be Devoting The Weekend To Some Classic Final Fantasy No Doubt.

The cult-classic Final Fantasy VII is now available for download from the Japanese Playstation Store. Coming mere weeks before the blu-ray release of Final Fantasy: Advent Children Complete (and the Final Fantasy XIII demo that comes with that), the PSone re-release will costs just 1500 yen (£10/$15) and weighs in at 1.7GB.

No word on a western release yet.
