Look, It's A FIFA Game.
EA’s confirmed that FIFA 11 will launch in Europe on October 1st. The Americans will get it a few days earlier on September 28th. They think football is played with the hands though, so y’know.
EA’s also revealed one of the game’s new features. The Creation Centre allows you to create players and teams using a web-based application on FIFA’s official site. You’ll be able to give players distinctive appearance, accessories and attributes, while creating distinctive crests, kits and stadiums.
We’re actually not sure what the point in this is, so we’re going to go out on a limb and have a guess. We assume this is for people who play in Sunday leagues and stuff, so they can recreate their local team and share it with friends etc. We think that’s the point. Maybe.
Additionally, you’ll also be able to create custom audio, “which enables fans to assign chants for every team and league in the game”. So if you want “Rooney-Rooney-Rooney” to ring out around Old Trafford when the Shrek-faced maestro scores a goal, you’ll be able to make that happen. That’s actually pretty neat.
We’ll be recording our best interpretation of “Dieeeeeeego-woah-oh” for Atletico Madrid fans.

United's Christmas Cantona Chant? It's In The Game. Vuvuzelas? It's In The Game? Eric Cantona Playing A Vuvuzela? Well You Get The Idea...
Are you loving the sound of vuvuzelas or detesting them? FIFA 11’s got you covered either way. One of the game’s newest features will allow you to tweak custom audio settings. Users will be able to upload sound clips — “Fivvvve Cantonas” — and mix them into the stadium ambience in accordance to events in the match. Which is basically amazing.

EA’s released a new developer video which highlights FIFA 11’s new Personality+ features. The new features’ purpose is to give variation between players of different skills, and the tech demos EA have to show off are very impressive. One example shows a player of low skill turning on the ball and scuffing his shot into the ground, where a more skillful player is able to turn and volley the ball into the target.
It’s all background stuff that will be hard to notice while playing the game, but should go a long way towards giving FIFA 11 a more realistic feel.

Oh Look, A Football Game. We Like Football.
FIFA games are really, really good. Seriously, ever since FIFA 08 (roughly), EA Sports have been on a roll with the franchise. The thing is, FIFA screenshots are really, really boring. This first screen from FIFA 11 is no exception. It’s Chelsea vs. Arsenal. It’s John Terry. Wooohooo.

EA Claim Fifa 10 Has Had The Biggest European Launch In The Companies History.
Fifa 10 has sold pretty darn well. Pretty amazingly well actually. EA claim that the game is the fastest selling sports game of “all time”; selling 1.7 million copies in its first week. EA also went on to describe the game as their biggest “European launch in history”.
The high sales figures can probably be attributed to the success of Fifa 09, which gradually converted Pro Evolution Soccer fans over the past year. With Fifa 10 looking every bit as good as Fifa 09, we can only imagine what the future holds for Fifa 11.
