Explodemon's Gonna Be Just About Ready To Detonate This Fall.

Curve Studios has dropped a little tease regarding the state of the upcoming PSN platformer, Explodemon. According to the developer, the game will hit the PSN sometime this Fall. It’s been a long time since we last made a post about the quirky little platformer, but it’s a game that’s very much still on our radar. Hopefully we’ll start to hear more about the title as Curve gear up for the game’s launch.

Explodemon! Will Be Exploding Onto The PSP In 2010.

Curve Studios developed the PSP version of Buzz! Master Quiz. Now they’re back working on the platform to bring their upcoming action-platformer to the system. Explodemon! has already been announced for PC, PS3 and WiiWare, but will arrive as a downloadable title for the PSP sometime in 2010.

Alongside Explodemon!, Curve Studios confirmed they have “a number of” other PSP titles in development for release next year.

2D platformers are a rare thing these days and we’re not entirely sure why. We don’t think the genre is “worn out” so to speak, and we’d happily welcome a bunch of new platformers are on our super HD box (new 2D Sonic game SEGA?).

Imagine our delight when we saw the debut trailer for Explodemon! (above). Being developed by Curve Studios (the team behind Buzz!: Master Quiz) is described as “a loving homage to SNES-era Japanese action games.”

Designer Jonathan Biddle said of the game, “[it's] what Treasure would create if they mixed Yoshi’s Island with Half-Life 2. It includes many elements from games as diverse as Street Fighter II, Halo, Super Metroid and Bangai-O.”

Colour us mildly excited for this one. It’s shaping up nicely.
