.detuned on Playstation 3 Hands-On Impressions.
.detuned is not a game. Like the bonkers Linger In Shadows that paved the entrance of the demo-scene onto Playstation 3, .detuned is part audio visualiser, part creative set-piece. It’s also ten-times more crazy than the floating dogs of Linger In Shadows.

.deTuned Will Allow "Players" To Manipulate Music Stored On The XMB.
We don’t care what anyone says, we’re adamant that Linger In Shadows was a great £1.00 spent. We know people didn’t “get” it, and we’re certainly not the type of publication who want to go all pretentious about it – but we enjoyed it. The music and the art-style were two things that will live in our memories for a while to come — the whole experience reminds me of what Playstation is all about.
On one hand you have Nintendo and Microsoft’s consoles – with the fanbase respectively calling one innovative and the other “better”… But in our opinion, no one does it quite like Sony. Things like Linger In Shadows, flower and LittleBigPlanet are constant reminders that brand-Playstation is constantly taking risks to push new experiences. These are the kind of experiences that fly over the mainstream’s heads – but reward Playstation owners over and over.
Thus it’s with great delight that we get to talk about the spiritual successor to Linger In Shadows – .deTuned. The game is being developed by .theprodukkt. This time the program is an application that allows the inputs of the Sixaxis controller to make a new experience from music stored on the XMB. Basically, an interactive visualiser.
The screens look beautifully whacky, and while there’s no doubt that this is going to be anything more than a show-piece and a bit of 5-minute fun, we’re so grateful to Sony for supporting these kind of experiences which genuinely can’t be experienced anywhere else.
