We said: “Shatter is an audio-visual delight compounded by frantic gameplay and clever mechanical twists on an aging concept. Shatter is the PSN’s shining beacon in the growing “New Arcade” market.”

Critter Crunch Dudes Give Sony A Big Verbal Kiss

Critter Crunch Looks Absolutely Stunning.

Critter Crunch Looks Absolutely Stunning.

Capybara’s Nathan Vella loves Sony. He told Gamasutra so. Kinda. Speaking of Sony freely available development suite, the Phyre Engine, Nathan said, “They support the living shit out of it. Any of the parts that are inside Phyre that we didn’t know how to fix or we had an issue with, they would fix it for us in a day. Overall, I think Sony’s doing a lot of right stuff for small independent developers.”

High praise indeed, and it’s not the first time we’ve heard such a glowing appraisal for the engine. It’s not just the support that has Capybara head of heels though. Nathan noted the promotion of Critter Crunch as a great reason to partner with Sony, and the fact that the company treated them like they “weren’t a small nobody developer from Toronto.”

We’ll have a review of Critter Crunch pretty soon.

Critter Crunch Sees Disappointing First Week Sales

No More Excuses Folks: Go Try Critter Crunch.

No More Excuses Folks: Go Try Critter Crunch.

Critter Crunch, a PSN game largely received with critical claim, has not had the best first week of sales, despite the game’s low $6.99 price tag. A representative of Capybara Games – developers of the cute little puzzle title – made the following statement on NeoGaf:

“Not selling so hot. Very sad over here too. Hopefully the demo will help, but what can you do – we made the best game we could for the best price we could, but in the end it’s the gamers that define your level of sales success.

“We’re over 8k for the week based solely on our leaderboards. It’s not bad, and i definitely don’t feel like we sold terribly. Capy & SCEA just had higher hopes for our first week, and to miss it is unfortunate.

“Even despite the not-so-awesome sales Critter Crunch has been a huge success for our studio. Our reviews have been amazing, and the response from people that picked it up has been beyond our expectations. In the end, I just hope people give it a shot, even if it’s just the demo.”

So there you have it, if you’re yet to try Critter Crunch, perhaps now is the time?
