UK Sales Charts: Ghost of Tsushima Settles for Second as The Last of Us 2 Exits Top 10

Great to see Ghost of Tsushima doing so well and also that Nintendo is seeing success in the UK.

Competition is good for the industry as a whole in my opinion.

Total dominance of Nintendo and Sony in the UK still.

Just goes to show how there’s been a total lack from MS this gen as charts from around the world have been similar to this with little or nothing from them for years.

Max power at Silverstone yesterday.

Had to see what was Number 1 considering the fact it aint full on graphics the Switch sells very well.....Sold out here for months I wonder how quiet it is.........because for me that is a massive factor in my purchasing habits it took me an age to swap to battery powered control pads because of the weak power in the PS4 pad I find myself going back to a wired control pad.

Fair play to Nintendo, Animal Crossing has done insanely well.

GTA 5 is going to be in the top 10 for another 5 years at this rate

@Noob_Saibot Very true. And the drop off would have been much less if the shops had copies. While the shops have an abundance of TLoU2 copies and it still had an 80% drop off. Every time I go in the supermarket I check and the shelf is always full of TLoU but empty of Tsushima.

People seem to really like Animal Crossing these days. I dont have a Switch, but I do remember importing the Gamecube version back in the day. I did buy GoT, but not really had a chance to play it beyond a few hours so far.

First, good job for ghost of tsushima.
Second, my god some people have some kind of trauma with tlou 2. It's literally in the 11th spot of the chart after almost 2 months, that doesn't seems too bad for me.

Glad ghost of tsushima resonated well with gamers, this game also reviews really well with youtubers. Too bad about tlou2, the word of mouth of this game is not good, nearly every big youtubers didn't like the story. Saying the story is bad is the understatement of the year.

I'm also sure the game (tlou2) won't be beloved as well as tlou1, which is a masterpiece. For most people (including me) tlou2 story is just a fanfic/bad dreams lol.

@wiiware while GoT did go down well with gamers, so did the TLOU2 go down well with gamers, because both are good games.

Microsoft have messed up the end of this generation with little exclusives and removing all but one Xbox one console off the market.
And they are messing up the start of next generation with tarted up Xbox one games for a good 2 years for a 12tflop console with and SSD etc etc.
If console sales don’t matter as they keep saying then cool, if they do matter I would sack the lot of them.

@Noob_Saibot, i will dealt with it for sure, the game sold more than 4 millions units in it's first 3 days. And when you mention agenda and politics i know you didn't play the game because it doesn't have any of that.
And from what i hear ghost of tsushima apparently has some lesbian and gay relationship so by your logic it has politics and agenda right?

Both Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 are great games, so many seem to be going out of their way to claim absolute nonsense such as "agenda's" and "politics" in TLOU2 which is utter *****. I've played both and platinumed both and for me its no contest in that TLOU2 is a better game, that doesn't devalue GOT which is itself a fine game and I couldn't care less which sells better as long as they're both successful or what "Youtubers" say for clicks

@Lobbo95 it took me a only a little longer to platinum Ghost of Tsushima than TLOU2, so I'd agree with @1_W1NG3D_4NG3L at around 40 hours. I'd say the story alone though is pretty short

@1_W1NG3D_4NG3L Because the internet empowers people to complain about anything that comes to mind. As the internet can be an echo-chamber they get a response or agreement so it reinforces their stance and tells them they're doing the right thing.

Internet voices aside I agree with you though. Let players enjoy the games they want and stop making them feel bad for doing so. As it stands developers have released some fantastic titles on the PS4 during its lifespan and I hope they continue this pattern with the PS5.

@Noob_Saibot rubbish sly dig. GOT sold 2.3m with a 68% drop = 3m total. TLOU2 sold 4m with 80% drop = 4.8m total.

Why handpick the second week sales drop? It's ridiculous. A game could sell 20m in its first week with a 99% sales drop and still top almost any other game.

@InvaderJim Eeeh, tlou2 gameplay is great but the story is really bad, it's like the last jedi, the prequel is great but the sequel is using "subverted expectations" plotline which is making characters do stupid things rather than logical one. Nobody enjoy old characters like luke as a hopeless hermit and being throw around by new character so people didn't go to the movie sequel, even though disney already swap the director.

I don't get the gushing for GoT. It's... Fine? It looks great, load times are amazing. But it's really basic open world stuff. The story missions are drawn out and the side missions are super repetitive.

Like I said, it's fine. Fairly fun to play. There just isn't anything special about it aside from the art direction.

@Noob_Saibot On the hand TLoUP2 sold more at launch meaning the 2nd week drop would be higher, in fact TLoUP2 still has more sales then Ghost. TLoUP2 leaving the top 10 was always a matter of time because its a 1st party sequel where the majority of people wanting to play would have in its first month. Also got to laugh how you use user scores as "proof", TLoUP2 was metabombed to hell by people who haven't played it and can't handle a character dying and Ghost had the exact opposite with people scoring it really high so the game can have a higher score and "beat" TLoUP2, its laughable that anyone will use user scores as evidence. As for Youtubers yeah they will hate it as they have to draw the in views. i see the majority of ones who have been high on hating it are the usual suspects who like to pride themselves on being "Anti-SJW" what says it all really.

That's the nature of the beast when you're a victim of your own success and that decline isn't necessarily an indication of the games quality; rather, contrary to some highly biased opinions that only serve to fuel an arbitrary flame war, what comes up must inevitably come down. So, as it stands, sharp sales follow a sharp decline. Anyway, these two titles mean big business for the Sony brand and the charts further prove that Sony and also Nintendo are unstoppable forces dominating the market within their respective "niches", for lack of a better word. All in all, this just serves to emphasise how complacent Xbox are with playing tennis without a net with their games as a services bs and this hardware hyperbole, and the vapourware consolation prize they called their weak "gaming showcase". I guess they neglect that good games sell consoles, not promises of hardware potential that's not only bested by PC, but also rendered redundant by it, too. I digress, it would be nice if the glory days of xbox's 360 were to make an appearance, but i think honest competition is long dead for the boys in green, sadly.

@Noob_Saibot The game killed off a "fan favourite" (Jim Sterling has some nice thoughts on Joel), has a lesbian lead, has another female lead and has a trans character so yeah that's why its been reviewed bombed, funny though you yourself highlight how user reviews are not credible.

As for Youtubers well sorry but they're just as credible as sites like these, you highlight a bunch of Youtubers will high sub counts so what? Many of the "Anti-SJW" Youtubers have high sub counts, Whatculture has high sub counts and even IGN does. They're all as credible as each other in that its their opinion not yours and not mine.

Yeah Joel deserved to die horribly, he was a selfish horrible person who only cared for his needs, even his love for Ellie came from selfish desire because she was like his dead daughter. I think Joel is a great character yes but he was never a nice character, he lived with violence, was violent and so died a violent death. Heroic deaths are fantasy just like how most people want to die peacefully in their sleeps, like Thanos says reality is often disappointing.

I love GoT so much. One of the best games of the gen. One thing I noticed though is it's the first game that really sends my PS4 into jet engine noise. I've never complained about the noise, my PS4 has always been very quiet since early 2014. So that's the first time it's really noisy for some reason .

When it comes to the last of us 2 I really did not like how the game had you constantly switch characters and went back and fourth between the past and present. Very unorganized in my opinion while the first game does its job up showings joels past in the beginning or ellie's past in the dlc. Also you play as ellie and Joel alone which made really did have a big emotional attachment to them. In the TLOU2 is just a train wreck of things going on at one time.

In regards of GOT the onlh thing these naysayers can say is its a really basic game. Pfft you could tell them couldn't survive the old gend days like ps1,2, and 3 when there were tons of basic games that were enjoyable regardless.

GOT was to me was that punisher like game that actually follow through with getting the job done even if he broke his code and kills his uncle. All these people say TLOU2 isn't rainbows and sunshine but yet ellie has some morale realization towards the end to not want to kill abby after everything has happen. Was it PSTD? I think that pill abuse may have had something to do with it lol
