As promised, 2K Sports has pulled back the curtain on PGA Tour 2K21, the studio’s upcoming golf simulation game. Due out 21st August on PlayStation 4, the release will build upon HB Studios’ previous effort The Golf Club 2019, bringing back the course creator and online societies that already proved popular with fans.
However, there’ll also be 15 licensed PGA Tour courses, each “scanned using cutting-edge technology to bring the fairways, greens, bunkers, trees, lakes, and ponds to life”. American superstar Justin Thomas will lead a roster of professional players, though you’ll also be able to create your own MyPLAYER and kit them out with “equipment and apparel from licensed brands including Adidas”.
In fact, if you pre-order, you’ll grab a bunch of in-game Adidas clothing designed exclusively for the game. Those who plump up for the Digital Deluxe Edition will also nab some golden clubs, as well as 2,300 VC for use on cosmetic items. We guess that means that NBA 2K’s divisive microtransaction currency will be returning.
The press release explains: “PGA Tour 2K21 is designed for players of all skill levels. Rookies can take advantage of real-time tutorials, tips, and shot suggestions, while veterans can master their games with Pro Vision, Distance Control, Putt Preview and other innovations. Social gaming is at the core of the experience, as players can hit the links with friends in local and online matches.”
We were already fans of The Golf Club series, but the added 2K Sports polish should ensure PGA Tour 2K21 takes things to the next level. Will you be teeing off with this title at all? Hit a long drive in the comments section below.

15 licenced courses included, but probably microtransaction for every new golf club, ball, and outfit.
So are hb studios still involved? It sounds like it could be a microtransaction nightmare now 2k are involved.
And that has to be the worst trailer 'music' I've ever heard. 😷
Quite a few courses out of the gate and the return of the course creator is pretty exciting.
I may have to get this.
@Dan_ozzzy189 yeah HB Studios still involved, 2K are just the publishers. It gets missed quite a lot but they published TGC2019 as well.
They need to get the micro transactions right. HB Studios built a great game and it would be a shame if a lot of content was gated behind micro transactions. Hopefully it's just cosmetics then it wont be a problem.
it will be interesting to see if 2K try and implement anything more, as the VC was easily earned in game .. If so, it would certainly do more harm than good and hurt a good dev in HB Studios. However as mentioned, 2K published the last one, so hopefully they don't try and cock this up...
@Dan_ozzzy189 HB Studios is developing, yes.
Right did anyone actually read what the CEO of Take Two said a while back, that he wants MTs and LBs in every game if he can because of the revenue GTA online brought in. Every game from them will have it like every other game will have them in. Unless the government of the world ban them outright (and at the moment it's one least thing they are sorting right now) they are here to stay and next gen will be full of them, PS3 Xbox 360 was the cake base, PS4/X1X was the icing PS5 and X series is the topping with that big far candle shaped as a FU to the gaming fanbase followed by a small sign around the front that also says DEAL WITH IT.
End of the day I hate MTs and LBs but I vote with my head and wallet I just don't buy them. Unfortunately the younger kids don't know any better and nether do parents until it's too late.
Oh god... this is going to be a disaster
Wonderful effort by devs and 2K will completely destroy it like they have done with the 'music choice'
As long as I can play as the gloriously named Fuzzy Zoeller.
Will need a Push Square review on this one before considering. Concerned about 2k involvement.
@Nakatomi_Uk why can’t you buy the games but not the micro attractions?
@Wesker I was referring to MTs and LBs I just don't buy them not the games should of mentioned that
@Nakatomi_Uk yeah I don’t buy them either, but I think at this point we just have to get used to them because they aren’t going away.
why does it even matter? lol.... people are crazy
@Dan_ozzzy189 You are right that music is disgusting and stupid for Golf.
@Dan_ozzzy189 I'd much rather have had Duke Ellington's It Don't Mean a Thing (if it ain't got that Swing)
