There’s no baseball season to accompany it, but Super Mega Baseball 3 will attempt to hit a clutch line drive on 13th May for PlayStation 4. Coronavirus had pushed the release of the colourful simulation back slightly, but developer Metalhead Software has now committed to the aforementioned date, while simultaneously detailing some of the on-field features via the video embedded above.
At an eye-watering $44.99, the title will find itself in direct competition with Sony’s own MLB The Show 20, although cross-platform play with other consoles such as Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC should make for a vibrant online community. There’ll be some free post-release updates, too, including the ability to import teams from Super Mega Baseball 2 and a “major online gameplay feature”.

This goes on the $5 Steam sale list.
Glad I have a PS4 right now. If you a MLB fan, The Show is really the only option. Even more now we still waiting for a season.
Yea that's a bit expensive tbh, think I'll wait till it's on sale, I'm from UK and don't really follow baseball but do like to play it on ps4, I have played MLB the show, but don't really know which players and teams are good, so when I bought super mega baseball it was quite enjoyable, and got me understanding it a bit better, the first two games are well worth picking up if like me you don't have much of a clue when playing MLB the show 😀. But will give MLB another shot at some point.
Love this game it’s the first day buy for me!!!
@Agramonte I've played tons of both. SMB has better AI in many areas, more realistic ball physics off the bat, and is unquestionably more fun to play. TBH the Show has made very few real changes in years, and removing season mode was a huge negative. With what SMB3 is bringing to the table, the Show would have to do a lot to convince me to buy it again.
@doctommaso "Fun to play" is subjective. Beating my brother in law who is a Boston fan with the Yankees is priceless. Just that makes The Show worth it.
But again, why it so great owning a PS4 right now.
If you think that way you can buy SMB3... I disagree, and can go buy The Show. Something for everyone.
@Agramonte I agree. I was stating my opinion, obviously, not yours.
If you want the real teams, then yes, the Show is for you.
I still like the Show a lot, but the removal of season mode and the lack of any substantial changes over many years has really put me off it. If you look at some of the AI gaffes, some of the same tired re-used lines by the announcers, and some of the never-fixed animations, it's clear that the developers are pretty much just mailing it in at this point.
