MLB The Show 20 may be the only baseball game currently in your crosshairs, but Metalhead hopes you’ll swing for something different instead. Super Mega Baseball 3, the third entry in the studio’s uber-polished arcade sports series, will launch on PlayStation 4 next month – and it’ll feature full cross-console play with Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC out of the bullpen.

In addition to vast improvements to the gameplay loop, the developer’s also pitching a brand-new Franchise mode, which could prove a serious time sink if you enjoy sports game campaigns. “In addition, the game offers a revamped user interface plus tons of new audio, team/character content, and stadiums with variable lighting conditions,” the press release reads.

Interestingly, the developer’s planning to release a free demo which will serve up a chunk of the competitive online suite, “promoting short matchmaking times and an active online userbase”. There’s a trailer embedded above, and it does look good. Between this and Sony San Diego’s simulation, baseball fans are feasting on PS4 right now.
