Gone Home (PS4)

Average Length: 2 hours

Gone Home is famously able to be completed in a matter of minutes, but you'll want to spend a little more time poking around this intriguing adventure game. It's a game all about exploring an eerily empty house, putting all the narrative pieces together in order to progress further. It's an emotional ride with a heartwarming ending, and absolutely worth the time you put in.

Gorogoa (PS4)

Average Length: 2 hours

The trouble with ingenious puzzle games is that, oftentimes, they're also very short. Such is the case with Gorogoa, a brilliantly clever puzzler that sadly ends all too soon. All you need to do is tinker with each four-panel scene, but the way that all the images interplay with each other is excellent. It's one of those games you need to play to really appreciate, and you should absolutely play it.

GRIS (PS4)

Average Length: 3.5 hours

Like a lot of the games on this list, GRIS is a pretty chilled out experience. This gorgeous 2D platformer has a serene, if melancholy, atmosphere, and can easily be finished in a handful of hours. The gameplay and presentation is smooth as silk, and the wordless story might even stir some feelings. Stylish and succinct, this is a game that's the right length for what it offers. Did we mention how beautiful it is?

Inside (PS4)

Average Length: 3.5 hours

Inside is another game on this list that's hard to talk about without spoiling. Coming from the makers of Limbo, this is a bleak puzzle platformer with a creepy vibe, but it's utterly captivating from start to incredible finish. It's a good thing the game is pretty short, as you'll be glued to the screen for its entirety. There's nothing quite like it on PS4, and it's probably one of our favourites on this list. Get it played.

The Invisible Hours (PS4)

Average Length: 3 hours

The Invisible Hours is an extremely clever whodunnit. The game takes place over about 90 minutes, and in real-time, numerous events are happening throughout the mansion. It's up to you who you want to track, and it means a game you'll need to play through multiple times in order to figure everything out. Playable on your TV or in PSVR, this is a must for murder mystery fans.

Journey (PS4)

Average Length: 2 hours

Journey is still a magnificent experience today. Originally releasing on PS3, thatgamecompany's spiritual adventure is just as unique and captivating on PS4. It's only a couple of hours long, but it's so full of heart and meaning, especially if you come across another player online. It remains a brilliant piece of work, and will stay with you long after the short runtime is done.

Minit (PS4)

Average Length: 1.5 hours

Minit is all about short spans of time. As the name implies, you only have one minute to live in this experimental action adventure. Using that time, you'll explore the open map, discover useful items, defeat enemies, solve puzzles, and more. The minute-long life might sound restrictive, but you'll be surprised how much you can get done with each run. An unusual but compelling little gem.
