The Witcher New Game Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red

Cyberpunk 2077 is due to release this September, but once it's out, what's next for CD Projekt Red? Well, we already know that the developer has plans for updates and DLC, and that it's going to add a multiplayer component to the open world role-playing game -- but what about its next full project?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it looks like the company's heading back to the world of The Witcher. During a recent company meeting, as reported by Polish website Stooq, president Adam Kiciński was asked about life after Cyberpunk 2077. His response was that the developer has already started work on an unannounced single-player title, and that CD Projekt Red has two "worlds". "Within these worlds we want to create games, therefore all the games planned so far are either Witcher or Cyberpunk," said Kiciński.

Interestingly, it sounds like this next Witcher game won't be tackled by CD Projekt Red's main workforce. Instead, the company's smaller studio will apparently take the reigns. Of course, the developer has expanded dramatically over the last few years -- there's no doubt that this next title will still have some serious manpower behind it.

So what do we actually know about this next Witcher game? Well, CD Projekt Red has previously mentioned that it probably won't have you play as Geralt, and that it likely won't be called The Witcher 4. In other words, it's shaping up to be a fresh start in The Witcher's existing world.

In any case, we look forward to hearing more.
