Tactical first-person shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm is closing in on a PlayStation 4 launch, with publisher Focus Home Interactive attaching a 25th August release date to the title. “[The game] invites console players to prepare for a hardcore depiction of combat with deadly ballistics, destructive artillery, and unprecedented audio design that puts the fear back into the genre,” reads the press release.
It continues: “Death comes fast, ammunition must be carefully managed, and the environment must be tactically navigated at every step towards victory.” There’s a new trailer embedded above.

I like games with scarce ammo and you have to make your shots count. The Last of Us MP was this way.
I remembr Insurgency as a half life 2 mod from long ago. Was kind of fun but nothing revolutionary. Basically counter strike.
It's a bit risky having the enemy in Arabic militant masking. Sure, being a recognisable differentiation of who the enemy is works well. But the problem is that just as many Arabs fighting on the Allies side against terrorists wear the same gear - so this portrayal tarnishes them all with the same brush.
The choice of enemy is more controversial and less clear cut than WW2, sci-fi enemies or specifically identified factions or groups like we find in Modern Warfare.
That’s a generic name for sure. It looks interesting, but I’d rather it be a SP game with some co-op than a MP game. Limited Ammo doesn’t work as for MP games, just becomes “I need to find more because I’m playing well.” Shame.
@nathanSF Most of the customization options for the "allies" are based around middle-eastern ethnicity, with most of the names for the different premade faces being Arabic. So it's very much a setting of arab forces (Allied trained and with Allied equipment) fighting against terrorists in their own country. But nice woke take I suppose...
@Jaz007 You can resupply if you have a teammate with an ammo bag nearby. Teamwork is much more important in this game than say CoD or Battlefield.
When the soldier kicks the door in, i thought i was watching a dreamcast game... Is it f2p?
@SinisterPledge Bugger all to do with 'Woke', mate, just straight up fact.
You guys need to get your facts straight. This game is a lot closer to a military sim than any Call of Duty and even though you haven't played it you are already passing judgment. I've put around 160 hours into this game on PC and can tell you that Playstation needs way more of this kind of games. Someone compared it to Counter Strike...this isn't run and gun. One shot often means one kill. Oh, and there are no stupid prompts to tell you if you actually killed someone, just like in real life. The only thing I'm worried about is how will aiming with a gamepad work. I'm still buying it day one.
