Update: PlatinumGames has released the first trailer for its upcoming Project G.G., after it debuted in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine. You can watch the video below:

This is a big deal for PlatinumGames as it will own the intellectual property outright, meaning it's not being contracted by another company or publisher to make this title.

Original Article: PlatinumGames is keeping itself busy at the moment, and it’s revealed the next product in its prestigious pipeline: Project G.G. Not to be confused with the popular Girls’ Generation song, development is being helmed by Devil May Cry’s Hideki Kamiya, and it’s described as the final entry in his “hero” trilogy, following Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101. "We’re going to go against the user’s expectations – in a good way," studio head Atsushi Inaba said of the game.

The title was revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, and the first artwork shows a boy transforming into a giant to fight a kaiju – or a huge monster for those not familiar with Japanese lingo. “We’re at the project start stage, and from here on we’ll be putting together the development team,” Inaba continued, as translated by Gematsu. “We’re opening a 100-person studio in Tokyo, so we’re going to be recruiting talent. There are already about 15 people working there.”

Inaba added that the team wants to release the title on “all existing platforms”, although that will presumably include PlayStation 5 once this gets off the ground. It represents the second of four announcements by the Japanese developer, following The Wonderful 101 Remastered.
