Set to kick off on the 31st July, Evo 2020 has officially announced its main lineup of games. The annual event will play host to eight main fighting game tournaments as well as a special Marvel vs. Capcom 2 invitational.
Here's the main lineup:
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Tekken 7
- Street Fighter V
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Granblue Fantasy: Versus
- Samurai Shodown
- SoulCalibur VI
- Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r]
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (invitational)
For the most part it's a predictable selection, but there are two notable absences. Mortal Kombat 11 and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, both of which appeared on the main stage at Evo last year, haven't made the cut this time around. We assume part of the reasoning is that Mortal Kombat 11 will have its own big tournament at some point in 2020, while Arc System Works is keen to focus on Granblue Fantasy: Versus rather than BlazBlue.
Indeed, Granblue is the only completely new game set for Evo 2020. Let's hope that it's well received when it launches this very week in Japan, and later on in March when it hits Western shores.
What do you think of the Evo 2020 lineup? Keep up those combos in the comments section below.

I figured Blazblue would get dropped, wasn’t expecting MK 11 to go though. I’m glad Samurai Shodown is making a return, and very interesting to see MVC2 here. Makes ya wonder if Capcom has something planned since Infinite pretty much died.
Not gonna lie, marvel vs capcom 2 is the pinacle of fun to play fighting games.
Hit me with that MvC 2 remaster, Capcom! Still the best 2D fighter for me.
MARRRRVVVVVEEEELLLLL!!!!!!
Really hoping this means something new for the franchise sooner rather than later. I actually enjoyed Infinite quite a bit mechanically, but it was not without its issues in other regards. We just need Disney to play nice and we're good.
With how big MK11 is in the competitive scene, and how invested NetherRealm Studios is with it, I'm really not surprised they're skipping Evo for their own tournament.
No MK11? Duuuumb. Their own separate tournament would be interesting, maybe with some MKX and Injustice 2 thrown in there, capped off with the MK11 Season 2 reveal? Idk.
EVO is a fun event tho, so it’s kinda like Sony not being at E3....kinda lame to not pile-in on the rest of the excitement, imho.
By dropping MK11 I will boycott all future annual EVO events.
