Quickly following in the footsteps of Sony, Kojima Productions, and Facebook, publisher Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will no longer be attending GDC next month. Citing the coronavirus, EA will also limit its attendance at other events throughout the year.

In a statement issued to USgamer, the company said: "Having closely followed the global situation with Coronavirus and with the recent escalation of cases in new regions, we have decided to take additional steps to protect the wellbeing of our employees including the restriction of all non-essential travel. As a result we are also cancelling our official participation at GDC and limiting attendance to other events." EA wraps up by stating that it will continue to moniter the situation.

It's yet another blow to the Game Developers Conference due to take place midway through March, but perhaps most concerning for the wider gaming community is that the publisher will limit its attendance at other shows. While the health and wellbeing of its employees are, quite obviously, of the utmost importance, could this mean a lesser version of EA Play is on its way to E3 2020? We'll just have to wait and see.
