PS5 PlayStation 5 Games Sony Promise CES 2020

While we didn't see the PlayStation 5 at Sony's CES 2020 press conference, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan did have a few choice words to say about the next-gen console. Ryan spoke about the PS5 for a good few minutes, and although no new information was shared -- barring the official logo reveal -- Ryan was quick to reiterate the company's stance on delivering top quality games.

Software has been the PS4's pillar this generation, with Sony's studios -- and a handful of third-party partners -- pumping out excellent titles. Not only have exclusives like God of War and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End received near universal praise, they've also posted some seriously impressive sales numbers. Naturally, it sounds like Sony wants to continue down this road, using software to define PlayStation.

During the aforementioned press conference, Ryan made a promise to PlayStation's audience. He said: "Our promise to the 100 million strong PlayStation community is to offer the biggest and best in content, and to deliver unique experiences to gamers with unprecedented speed." In other words, it's still all about the games as far as Sony's concerned.

It goes without saying that the Japanese giant will want to replicate the PS4's runaway success with the PS5, and from where we're sitting, this looks like the right way to do it.
