Call of Duty: Black Ops PS3

The United States of America must really, really like the Call of Duty franchise. That's because the NPD group has just revealed the top 10 selling games of the previous decade across the US and entries in the Activision series take up a whopping seven of the top 10 places.

The top 10 is as follows:

  1. Grand Theft Auto V
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  3. Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  5. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  6. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  7. Red Dead Redemption 2
  8. Call of Duty: WWII
  9. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  10. Minecraft

Beyond the top 10, Call of Duty titles take up another three spots should you take the top 15 into account, but that's where its success ends. Nothing managed to beat out Grand Theft Auto V, however, which also topped the UK chart on the same subject. As ZhugeEX states on Twitter, it is worth noting that this chart only covers paid video game sales and ignores free-to-play profit, but if it were to include microtransactions then it's possible that the Rockstar Games outing would only solidify the top spot even further. We would expect to see Fortnite put in an appearance if things were different, however.

How do you react to this list? Does the US market need to differentiate its tastes or could you have predicted this top 10 with ease? Let us know in the comments below.
