Sony sprung a very pleasant surprise on us all when it confirmed that one more State of Play livestream was planned to take place before 2020 rolls around, bringing with it a lot of rumours and excitement. Various games were speculated to put in an appearance, so it was a delight to receive official confirmation of the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis PlayStation 4 remake and welcome the return of the much-anticipated Ghost of Tsushima. That one is still looking particularly incredible, isn't it? More unexpected reveals included PS4 release dates for Untitled Goose Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds, as well as trailers for Babylon's Fall and Paper Beast.
However, what did you make of it all? What was your favourite game shown during the livestream? Was there anything missing? Place your vote in our poll and share your thoughts in the comments below.

it was underwhelming. Like very.
Dreadful showing from Sony. I understand it’s near the end of this gen but they shouldn’t hype it as a State of Play if it’s going to be Wii U era Nintendo Direct levels.
i'm sure that GOT will get a date at the game awards.
that's all i have to say.
The GoT tease was cheap.
RE3make was a good reveal. Too bad it was spoiled.
Everything else... meh. I guess there's some people excited for the KH DLC.
Sony has the format down, but they need better games for these presentations.
I'm surprised Got is being saved for The Game Awards, maybe Sony felt bad about the Insomniac announcement.
It was cool res3 dreams and Ghost of Tsushima teaser. yeah ok.
Dreams and Resi 3 were strong showings, bit of a tease saying it was just Project Resistance's single player too
kinda weird to keep the GOT release date for the game awards though.
maybe because that show has a bigger audience? or is it because the release is closer than we think?
Was it just me or was there a new sound at the beginning of this State of Play, instead of the PS4's 'beep'? Preview of the PS5's startup sound, perhaps?
It was pretty good. The first half was very rough, but mostly everything from KH3 Re:Mind onward was good stuff.
It was good.babylon fall looks amazing.man sony need to buy platinum games.resident evil 3 is all gravy.and of course ghost of tshushima sneak peak.and full reveal at the game award show.thats a good show.word up son
Babylon's Fall looks awesome. Platinum at it's best. And of course, KH3 Re:Mind.
Thak you SE.
@HungryWolf oh yeah that game looks sooo good!
betting it's a ps5 game though since we have to wait till next summer for more info.
It was pretty much as expected. These streams are always going to be mostly about giving awareness to smaller games. It's a shame most things get leaked nowadays as I think Resi 3 out of the blue would have been huge.
That trailer of a trailer at the end summed it all up in my opinion. First and last Sony Direct I've seen probably.
@Ralizah. No it wasn't cheap.were you watching the same thing.a sneak peak.and a full reveal at the game award show.word up son
Would have been ten times better had RE3 not leaked prior, I would say a decent 7 as to get a Dreams Release Date alongside official update on RE3 and GOT is never a bad thing!
@Turismo4GT The sound at the start of the stream was an old school Resi sound. At least I think that's what you are referring to.
So whys Easter the new Christmas? March and April are more packed than winter was lol Damn Resident Evil 3 pick a quiet month lol
Nothing special.
@Choppaz that would be so good but Insomniac are busy with Spiderman 2.
@playstation1995 tbh that is kinda cheap though.
i'm not dissing the stream but they should have had the entire GOT trailer either for this or the game awards instead of splitting it in 2.
it's ok to not like something sony related.
@Turismo4GT It's the old Resident Evil menu sound.
Most of what Push Square predicted happened and yet people are STILL underwhelmed?
I wish someone can explain what exactly you think these State of Plays are supposed to have?
@Danloaded Delays, I guess.
It was ok, and I'm fine with that. It's obvious Sony's focus has shifted to PS5. I was just hoping for REmake 3 and a release date for it. Happy to see it's in April, which is sooner than I expected it.
I think some people are making fuss for fuss sake, we got the two things we mostly all talked about in RE3 and GOT, albeit not in the way we would have preferred but now that allows us to know that we will get a big GOT update this week.
Also to get a Dreams release date is never a bad thing, don't be so doom and gloom guys, it was a decent SOP, nothing more and nothing less.
@AdamNovice @BearsEatBeets ah ok then, I stand corrected. Thanks for the heads up guys.
@playstation1995 That was barely even a sneak peak. It was basically advertising for TGA, which is NOT a good way to close out a SoP.
@Ralizah People would have been more angry if GoT wasn't shown at all. At least it's something.
@DonJorginho Here Here
@Turismo4GT no it has been confirmed the PS5’s start up sound will be this https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ
I just want that Duck game That looked well CUTE Not sure why
Pretty lame.
Superliminal looked interesting from the concept alone.
The rest... meh... not suited for my tastes at all. GoT tease was a waste of time, and I'm still not sold on it until I see more gameplay.
I think next year they need to start reserving these for major announcements, perhaps even dedicated to specific games. Have one with 15 minutes of GoT gameplay, another with major TLOU2 info, and so on. Given only 4 or 5% of users actually own one, the majority of viewers don't give a crap about little PSVR shovelware titles... filter those out and have a State of Play dedicated to those too. And at least give people a general idea of what's coming in each one, so we don't have to sit through stuff of no interest to us.
@Dodoo Had a feeling it was going to be that in the split second it took for the link to open. Well played.
It absolutely did live up to expectations as we pretty much got everything that was rumoured. I thought it was good. Enjoyed the fake outs.
I wasn't underwhelmed I guess but nothing really impressed me. Ghosts looks good the other 18 minutes barely held my attention.
@Dodoo Nice...
Dude, it's 2019 🤣🤣
I actually like that song, so yeah, I listened to it the whole way through.
I thought it was great. I was sceptical we'd see Ghost of Tsushima so I was pumped to see that happen, even if it was brief. I also really enjoyed the smaller game announcements, like Untitled Goose Game and Superliminal. There were maybe one or two duds, but overall I'm happy with what we got. Even Babylon's Fall looks pretty interesting.
Wasn’t crazy surprising cuz all the leaks but definitely a big improvement in my opinion! And that’s coming from someone who’s supported State of Play since it’s introduction earlier this year, I agree tho it will get better once we get into next gen
It was a OK showing but didn't put any title on my must have day one list.
Hate today's gaming stuff because it so easy to leak crap why I loved the 90s 00s era no social media you found out by a magazine or taking to staff in Electronics boutique because they were great days back then for gaming
@Rick_Deckard didn't catch that, must have been looking away when that happened. I'll check out the replay.
@Turismo4GT @BearsEatBeets hehe sorry guys, I know it’s not 2009 anymore but couldn’t resist 😆
It's not good, we already know most of the suprise (dreams release date, resident evil 3 announcement, ghost of tsushima update), and ghost update is just a teaser trailer
At this point in ps4 life I don't think anyone care about indie or battle royale games anymore, unless it has a really beautiful graphics like transistor, pyre, or ori. At least not when you can get AAA games like dmc5 or re2 remake for about $20.
When your best announcement is a "tune in to the game awards" tease, you know you had a stinker. Some OK info in there like the Dreams announcement but apart from that it was boring, other than the RE3 reveal anyways. The Ghost of Tsushima half-tease was the ultimate damp squib, totally killed any buzz they'd built up.
It was good. Babylon's Fall, RE3, Dreams, the goose game...
I think people expects from Sony a new AAA exclusive game releasing every month. That's why there're so many bad reviews.
I guess I'm the only one who liked it.
@OscarHTX I'm in agreement. I get that some people want to move on from the e3 style presentations but I'd rather have a clumsy announcement from someone who is clearly passionate versus whatever milleniabot they employ for these State of Plays.
@Ralizah. So what.at least they show it.and the game awards they will show more.people always make a big deal out of nothing.cant wait for more at the game awards show.word up son
I forgot it was even on. RE3 is looking fantastic and that is enough for me.
As much as I want GOT the trailer was dumb.
RE3 looks good and was the real highlight of this State of Play.
Dreams release date was looooooooong overdue.
I dont think any battle royale game needs a trailer at any event.
Overall it was okay. I'm just crossing my fingers that this reveal event whenever Sony does it blows me away with new game announcements. Bc honestly they havent announced any substantial exclusives in almost two years.
I loved this final 2019 State of Play, though it definitely would have been a bigger impact if the Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind DLC trailer and Resident Evil 3 Remake had not been leaked last week.
I'm also looking forward to more info about Ghost of Tsushima at The Game Awards 2020, and Babylon's Fall sometime in Summer 2020.
As for the other games that were covered, zero interest besides maybe Dreams?
Resident evil 3 my most anticipated game of 2020.
I thought it was solid. Dreams release date, GoT teaser, Goose game coming to PS4, and RE3 remake were all good to see. Especially loved the Babylon's Fall showcase. If people were disappointed, I honestly think it's because their expectations were too high.
However it seems a bit the RE3 remake is coming a year after the RE2 remake, since it's been almost 20 years since the REmake.
While the reveals were solid and the trailers were good, I don't feel State of Play is a good platform for revealing games. It just doesn't work and undermines the games it shows by making them feel run of the mill. I think the live crowd is necessary to hype up a game especially for AAA games.
it was as expected. No need to show new games with ps5 reveal incoming.
