Rumour: Bayonetta Joins Vanquish in Remaster Double Pack, Coming February 2020

That would be terrific! Played it back on the 360, surely one of my favourite platinum games and would happily buy the remaster.

@TheBuzz People need to stop asking for Bayonetta 2 and 3 on anything other than Nintendo platforms, they're published and funded directly by Nintendo with the IP being licensed from Sega. It's NEVER going to happen.

So resi 3,this game and most likely the new batman game sort of got leaked already.

At least you can buy them separately, I don't feel like buying Bayonetta again (own it twice despite not having yet beat it), but I am interested in Vanquish.

Amazing news. So glad Bayonetta will finally get a chance to really shine on a Sony system, the PS3 port was an absolute disgrace.

Sega probably saw how awfull the sales were on wii u and even switch.
Knowing nintendo they probably stopped funding for bayonetta 3.
They have a hand in doing that they did the same during a few years of gamecube and wii.

@The_ghostmen what are you talking about? It means everything. Nintendo owns the exclusive punlishong rights to Bayo 2 and 3. That's an end of it. They aren't leaving Nintendo platforms.

Still waiting on that Bayonetta 3 news...but hey, original Bayonetta is still a great time and a good version of it should be available on Playstation.

Vanquish is dope as well, this is a good double pack. Got both games multiple times over though so i'll probably be skipping.

@ZeroAbbadon They don't own the franchise so it means nothing. M$ had the publishing to Ninja Gaiden, ME and Bioshock and we saw what happened.

@GodGamer The IP itself is owned by Sega, but 2 and 3 being made on Nintendo's dime with publishing rights does lock them to Nintendo. A Bayonetta 4 could theoretically be made on a different companies dime and not be exclusive on Nintendo though.

They also said development was proceeding smoothly not that long ago.

@GodGamer I believe Nintendolife themselves did an article around E3 with Atsushi Inaba, Platinum Games Studio Head who said development was progressing well. Not to mention, games can be announced too early; for example, FF7 Remake was announced way too early (Edit: E3 2015), but it is indeed being released in March 2020.

@GodGamer it can't and won't. They do t own the license for Bayo 2 and 3, they hold the exclusive publishing rights as well as owning the work that platinum produced. The only thing that could possible happen is Sega taking back the license but all that would happen would be Nintendo couldn't continue selling the games, they cannot ever appear on another system without Nintendo publishing them, and they aren't going to do that.

I very surprised this took so long. Vanquish had a good PC release a few years back. I played it last year I think and it has aged well. I think this was a game were all the assets had been produced at a much higher quality than the consoles it released on could support. I wonder if the x-box has this on its BC list and if so does it have access to those high quality models. At any rate, it is a game that is still a absolute blast to play and its good everyone will have the chance to play at 60/4K

Vanquish & Metal Gear Rising Revengeance are the only reasons I keep my 360 hooked up. Hopefully a Revengeance remaster isn’t too far behind. But that would require Konami to release a fun game, so never mind.

@GodGamer - To be fair the 360 version wasn't perfect, it had some horrendous screen tearing but the PS3 port was just awful. You know there are issues when you pause the game and an onscreen message says 'Please wait, loading pause menu'.

If you look up the sales of Bayonetta, the game has never been a big seller. It's appeal has always been a bit limited, despite how awesome it is. I think it's much better than DMC.

@ZeroAbbadon Amazing how it is wrong to ask Sega for Bayonetta sequels (third party Nintendo exclusive), but at the same time it is okay to portbeg Sony's 100% first party games like Horizon or God of War coming to pc and other platforms or it's wrong to even dislike the idea publicly. I'll pass. Bought Bayonetta 1 on my 360 and Bayonetta 2 for my Wii U, and wasn't a huge fan of either game. The only Platinum title I've ever really fallen for is NieR: Automata.

I'll never understand why Bayonetta had to be 'saved' or something by Nintendo and so never got sequels on PS4/XB1, the first game was imo the best the genre has to offer.
I've got a Switch and played Bayo2 on that but my God it would have been so much more spectacular on a PS4Pro.

Why would they continue to invest in a property that actively loses money? Nintendo make some dumb decisions but they don't often willingly throw good money after bad except when their back is to the wall. They even double dipped and paid for it to be ported to the Switch along with the first game so clearly they're making something here. Is it within the realms of possibility that Nintendo sells the publishing back to Sega for them to re-release it on other platforms, sure, it's technically possible. Do I see it happening? Absolutely not, not.only are they clearly.invested in the series Nintendo rarely if ever actually gives up IP it controls, even in the loser sense of the word as with Bayonetta.

Meh... Vanquish was a cool surprise when it came to PC, but what I really want is a remaster of Dante's Inferno. - I enjoyed it on the PS3, but it was also kinda headache-inducing considering it's not an easy game and you have to keep re-playing at that jaggy low resolution and framerate. - Well, it was pretty swift, but like many games on the PS3 (and PS2), it's one of those that should've been in 1080p at a higher framerate. (4K is b.s. by the way)

I'm buying a Switch tomorrow with Bayonetta 1/2 (both my favourite games) weirdly enough, hopefully Vanquish gets ported to Switch.

@YozenFroghurt Ok bud. When people say that something is "never goj g to happen", 9 times out of 10 what they actually mean is "the odds of that happening are so low they may as well be zero". That's what people mean when they say Bayonetta 2 will never be ported to another platform. There is a less than 1% chance of that happening but that's so low that it is in fact easier just to say it's never going to happen. It's the same way companies get away with saying their product has 0 calories or is fat free, it's technically not true but the levels of fat or calories are so low that trade regulation bodies just allow them to say that they aren't there.

@oldschool1987 Yes, and EA purchased those rights when they bought Bioware and the Mass Effect IP, however there was still a timed exclusivity deal for consoles which is why it took so long for the first Mass Effect game to appear on the PS3. This is nowhere near being the same situation as that unless someone comes along and offers to buy the publishing rights from Nintendo and Nintendo actually accepts. That is an insanely unlikely scenario.

@ZeroAbbadon and Sega own the IP rights to Bayonetta. Unlikely isn't impossible. I personally don't care, I never liked Bayonetta, and I have a Switch anyway. But my issue was with you demanding people stop asking for something they want, people can ask for whatever they want, it's only asking.

And there was a time when Mass Effect 1 was never, ever, ever coming to PlayStation. People forget that.

@Splat Best comment! Binary Domain (together witch Vanquish) were so underrated! I think they released around the same time and were both published by Sega. Hope they release them all seperately as physical editions.

@oldschool1987 Mass Effect 1 was way MORE likely than Bayonetta 2. EA purchased the IP outright from Microsoft and only had to honour a timed exclusivity deal. Nintendo holds the publishing rights and would have to willingly give them up in order for Bayonetta 2 and 3 to be released on other systems, even if Sega revoked Nintendo's license they still couldn't release the games anywhere else without purchasing those publishing rights back from Nintendo. Nintendo never gives up anything it doesn't have to, it hoards anything it can get.

Your example of ME is one company honouring a timed agreement already in place with a developer and IP it bought, the situation with Bayonetta is one company holding the exclusive publishing rights with absolutely no incentive to give them up.
Mass Effect didn't happen because people asked for it, it happened because it was inevitable.

But that aside, why is it ok to port beg but not ok to tell people not to port beg? Moreover, why bother port begging in a place that would do no good? There is literally no point in doing it here, so I don't think it's not ok to explain to people why they either shouldn't bother or to tell them to do it elsewhere. It's like the people who constantly ask Sony to make the PS4 backwards compatible for PS3 games, it's not possible but they constantly ask and it gets pretty annoying after a while going into the comments sections of articles seeing the same dumb stuff on stories like this.

@YozenFroghurt Since you seem to like comparing this situation to others that are in no way alike how about I make a more apt comparison. THQ published the Sonic Advance GBA games back in the days. When they went under Sega neglected to reobtain the publishing rights for those games and now can not re-release them in any form. The rights are now lost somewhere. This is evidenced by the fact that Sega put the games on the Wii U virtual console in Japan but not in Europe or North America. So for Bayonetta 2 to ever be released on different platforms Sega would have to be proactive and reobtain the publishing rights from Nintendo, something which they clearly have absolutely no interest in doing. That's the whole reason Nintendo funded Bayonetta 2 in the first place, because Sega didn't want to and they clearly still don't. Sure things could change but the chances of Sega paying to get back control of an IP they clearly don't care about at all and that underperformed for them back on the 360 and PS3 is laughable.

Two great 7th gen action games that all PS4 owners should try out here if you haven't already. I have both on PS3 so I will pass but hopefully it sells and we get a Vanquish 2 at least.
