While there’s no indication of which console sold the best this Black Friday, we do know courtesy of Games Industry data that the PlayStation 4 moved the most software in the UK. According to the site, almost 500,000 games were sold for Sony’s platform over the past week, which is an impressive result – even if it is technically down 37 per cent year-over-year.

For comparison, the Xbox One managed to sell 413,112 games, while the Nintendo Switch shifted 361,967 games. To be fair, these are quite competitive numbers, and it’s clear from Sea of Thieves’ placement in the latest UK sales charts that Microsoft’s Xbox One hardware bundles seriously moved the needle for the Redmond firm.

Of course, it’s worth remembering that FIFA 20 was the title included in Sony’s flagship bundle, and the annually released soccer simulation comfortably topped the charts in the Britain last week. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – the other high profile, PlayStation promoted title – finished in second. So probably not the best Black Friday for the Japanese giant, but not a bad one.
