Not only did Geoff Keighley somehow secure dibs to the Xbox Series X unveiling during his annual The Game Awards shindig last night, but he was also able to reveal the first PlayStation 5 game live on stage. Godfall, which is coming to the PC as well as Sony’s next-gen console, promises a “slasher-looter” experience like no other – but was that the PS5 logo at the end of the video?
The answer, of course, is no. Sony may have confirmed the name of its forthcoming format, but it’s yet to reveal any assets associated with it. If you look at the title’s official website, it’s clear that the secondary font being leveraged by the release is the same one it used at the end of the trailer to announce platforms. In other words, this is all placeholder for now. The wait goes on.

Well we have to wait for the real deal. Before we even can think about logo design..
I hope they stay the course and use an updated version of the PS4's logo type.

I'll admit I was more curious than most about them officially saying the name, but the logo, really? It's the PS5, what difference does it make?
Oh God, i need my little fix of next gen right now! Seriously after the XboxSX reveal my hype for the PS5 went full skyrocket, I need to see those games running on the new hardware.
Let's be honest be the same as the ps4 if you look at the last few fonts they have pretty much been the same
@rjejr You mean you don't remember the launch of the PS3 and the ridiculous arguments about the use of the font from the Spider-Man 2 movie?
@Paranoimia I do actually remember the PS3 font being the Spiderman font, in my head they are the same thing to do this day, but I don't remember anyone caring about it. Joking about it maybe, ha ha silly Sony stuff, but not losing their minds over it. But I guess that's the way things are these days - either you like something or you review bomb it w/o even playing it. People don't seem able to walk away and turn off the hate, people can't just be mildly amused anymore. Shrinks are loving it.
@rjejr Oh, I saw quite a bit of it. But agreed, it was nothing like as bad as it is today.
But I blame a lot of this 'outrage culture' on social media... hot-takes, ridiculous knee-jerk over-reactions, and a perpetual state of offence all seem to have come about since Twitter hit the mainstream. Not only Twitter of course, but that tends to be the best example... perhaps because of the imposed brevity of posts and the lack of room to explain opinions in detail, meaning people jump to conclusions about all sorts of things.

That's probably the most accurate description of twitter ever, and I do think it's part of the problem. I only started going on twitter after they raised the limit to whatever it is now, I just couldn't write anything as short as it needed to be before.
Though of course part of the problem is hardly any ramifications anymore. Curse, insult, kill, rape*, basically do whatever it is you want, you can get away with it. So I think all the people who used to pretend to be polite have stopped pretending b/c they realized they don't have to any more. Why bother faking it?
