Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out today on PlayStation 4, and as you might expect, the first batch of reviews have come online. While it seems many outlets are holding off to get time with the multiplayer, that hasn't stopped a handful of sites from throwing out some scores. Fortunately, they generally seem to be very positive.
We'll be delivering our verdict of the latest Call of Duty as soon as possible. In the meantime, let's take a look at some reviews from this first wave of coverage.
Game Informer - 8.75/10
This annualized series continues to pound out excitement, but this time in ways you may not expect.
PC Gamer - 8/10
Modern Warfare evolves the series for the better, but it could be so much more.
GamesRadar+ - 4/5
Modern Warfare is fast and frenetic, setting a new benchmark for fidelity and high-pressure FPS action.
GameSpot - 7/10 (in progress)
2019's Modern Warfare both draws from the original and lays a good foundation for the rest of the series, despite some thematic issues and co-op pitfalls.

No surprises there.
I played the mp open beta briefly. It felt brilliantly tight and rapid. Nice to see the single player is well regarded.
I probably won't buy it, but it felt like the quality was there.
@JoeBlogs There's probably an amount of unreliability, the selected review summations don't seem massively fawning, rather critical actually.
The mechanics of the game based on the MP are incredibly solid.
We'll see what MTX shenanigans Activision gets up to once the review period is over...

Am I the only one that was expecting better scores?
I know these scores are good but from what've played so far and seen from gaming sites I was expecting to be 9/10 or higher across the board!
Those are the vaguest summaries ever.
I’m not sure. The sentiment seems to be that the game’s campaign could be better. MP in COD is simple pop-corn multiplayer as always, hardly something to get lost in from what I played of the Beta. It seems like a good campaign from what I’ve read, but not a great one.
Also, who are the people playing the MP in these reviews I wonder? Who’s got the game aside from these 10 or so critics?
I am absolutely loving it! And ive pretty much hated the last handful of cod games at least from the multiplayer side. I think the whole tight 3 lane map design is awful. Constantly being bottlenecked into tight "hallways" and to a 5 way cross lane where you cant cover yourself at all. All u can do is keep running and hope u kill a couple people randomly before u die again.
I love the mw remaster though and would say this new one has that oldschool vibe with wonderful maps that are much more open and realistic. And everything just feels great.
another MW trilogy in works i see.
First Call of Duty I've bought in years, and I'm loving it so far. The story is a bit on the nose with "muh evil Russians" but even still the campaign is really fun so far, and the online is great.
If you gave up like I did, this one mount grab your attention again.
@JoeBlogs IGN gave a campaign only review for now, I think it's like 8.7? I can't remember exactly, but it reviewed well.
Great fun but some little bugs like clipping through the walls. Driving through closed Doors at the start of the mp match. Could they make the letters any smaller though. 😋
