As with any Activision game, speculation runs rampant regarding the possible implementation of loot boxes or similar in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. No official word on the subject has been provided as yet, but that hasn't stopped people from holding the game at arm's length, expecting the worst. In an attempt to remedy this reputation, Infinity Ward's art director Joel Emslie has taken to Reddit to alleviate the fears of fans.
Clearly frustrated by assumptions made among gaming communities, Emslie states that there's a lot of "misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare". While it seems he's limited in what he can talk about, Emslie makes it known that loot boxes currently aren't in the upcoming shooter. "What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system," he says. He goes on to emphasise that "functional stuff" - like new weapons - is unlocked through gameplay. Apparently, more information on all this is coming later in the week.
Of course, this doesn't speak to whether the game will feature loot boxes in the future, but we should wait for the new info to come through before any pitchforks are raised. What do you think of this? Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare be stuffed with loot boxes or supply drops? Spend 50p to comment below (just kidding).
