Status: Unannounced, but likely considering what dev team is working on
The Playroom is a pre-installed game on PS4 that's designed to show off the new bells and whistles of the console and its controller. It's been confirmed that the development team is working on short demos for PS5, so we think it's highly likely these could turn into The Playroom 2. We wouldn't be at all surprised to see it on our PS5's menus when we boot it up.
Status: Announced for PS4, but apparently still in heavy development, so it's expected to be a next-gen title
Cygames has no shortage of cash to spare from the success of the Granblue games, and it’s looking like it wants to invest that money into prestige projects like Project Awakening. This ambitious RPG is reportedly still deep in development, but the Japanese company has bold plans, including 12-player co-op and a gigantic open world. A trademark for a "trial" version on PS4 titled Project Awakening: Arise was recently registered, but we've heard nothing since. Given the timing, the full game could well be aiming for PS5.
Status: Announced with no platforms confirmed, but likely to be a next-gen title
Rebellion has said that it’s busy beavering away on a new Sniper Elite game, but it’s keeping the details under its hat until next year. It’s an interesting choice from the Oxford-based developer, considering next year is when we’ll likely begin to start seeing announcements of next-gen software. Coincidence? We think not.
Status: Announced with no platforms specified, but strongly hinted to be a next-gen title
Another early announcement from Bethesda, Starfield will supposedly mark the developer's first step into galactic sci-fi territory. At E3 2018, the company hinted strongly that Starfield is targeting next-gen hardware, so we fully expect this one to show up on PS5.
Status: Unannounced, but new San Diego-based heavily expected to be working on new Uncharted game
We know that Sony has established a new studio in San Diego which is hiring aggressively. According to job listings, it’ll be working closely with an established first-party team, and the expectation is that said group is Naughty Dog. With ex-Uncharted staff all recruited to the project, it’s highly likely that this game will be a continuation of the swashbuckling series, and while it’s possible it may be a PS4 title, we’d expect whatever it turns out to be to deploy on the PS5 as well.
