The Last of Us: Part II made a big splash yesterday with a release date, a new trailer, and details on its various special editions. It's clear that this game is going to be a big deal, but it sounds like it's going to be pretty huge in size, too.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, director Neil Druckmann talks about developing this hotly anticipated sequel, pointing out the sheer scale of the project. "What we realized pretty early on is that we were putting together Naughty Dog’s most ambitious and longest game in our 35 year history," Druckmann says. "To tell this kind of story the game needed to be massive."
It's not too much of a surprise to hear this is the studio's biggest game yet. It's also been revealed that physical versions of the title will include two Blu-Ray discs in a similar fashion to Red Dead Redemption 2. By the sound of it, The Last of Us: Part II is going to be enormous, and we can't wait.

Can't wait for Outbreak day to get more details. I've seen Greg from Kinda Funny tweet he has played for a couple of hours and so has Nath from Playstation Access. I asked him on twitter if there would be any new footage and he replied yes.
Excellent, I love massive games that takes me many many hours to complete. I'm 100% on board with this.
40 hour in the last of us part 2 confirmed.word ☝ up son
Gotta be honest, the game being huge is not necessarily a selling point for me. I made it through RDR2 (and was glad I did) on sheer grit and determination, but I prefer a tight 20-30 hour experience if possible. The good thing here is that he says it is a large game because it has to be to tell the story they want to tell - so hopefully that means it’s not bloated.
As long as it doesn't go open world then great! Seriously though, I would guess a 20 hour campaign with a LOT of cut sccenes which would make it a pretty long ND game.
I'm expecting a 20 hour story aswell now.
UC4 was around the 15 hour mark I believe.
Now I wonder if they will throw in some form of side missions.
Not in the open world format ofcourse but more open paths kinda like UC4 but this time with side objectives/missions.
It will be a wild ride, can't wait for this game. I remember going total internet blackout when playing uncharted 4 because fear of spoiler, no comments section/youtube/twitter for me when I played the game until the very end
I know spider-man ps4 ending because some xb fanboys spoil it for me on twitter (on one of ign tweet), so yeah I learned my lesson lol.
If it's consistently compelling, that's great. My biggest concern with this one is Naughty Dog going even further in the quasi open world direction they experimented with in Lost Legacy.
More TLoU2 is a very good thing and I like very good things a lot.
@Dange lol same!
@playstation1995 40 hours is unlikely, I'm thinking 15-20 hours.
As much as I like the Uncharted series, TLOU is still my favourite Naughty Dog game.
@KidBoruto 40 hours is possible.word up son
@playstation1995 Don't get me wrong that'd be amazing, hopefully you're right.
What sucks is that Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out 2 weeks after TLoU2
@JustEddie
Time Management is key:p
@Rudy_Manchego it's not open world since they reveal the last of us 2
