World War Z's first season of post-launch content is about to come to an end, but it's going out with a bang as it adds weekly challenges, new weapons and cosmetics, and a new earnable currency.

The weekly challenge mode is the biggest addition in the Proving Grounds update - a separate playlist that changes the experience dramatically with three different modifiers active at any one time. These will rotate on a weekly basis, with more than 40 in total ensuring each seven-day stretch will be vastly different. Private lobbies will allow you to set these modifiers yourself so that you can tune the title to your needs when you're teamed up with friends.

Elsewhere, a new currency called Challenge Coins is being added in order to allow you to unlock new cosmetics, weapons, skins, and decals. These can only be earned through gameplay, stresses Saber Interactive's creative director.

Better yet, another season's worth of content is head to World War Z in the future. The next lot of updates will add Horde mode, new maps, new weapons, and "a lot of surprises along the way". Are you still playing World War Z? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
