Part of what makes CTR great is its lengthy Adventure mode, but no kart racer is complete without a suite of local multiplayer options. Nitro-Fueled has them in spades; single races, cups, and lots of battle modes are available for up to four player split-screen. With lots of tracks and options to tweak, PS4's best kart racer is a real blast with a few friends.

For our money, this is one of the best multiplayer titles on PS4. TowerFall Ascension's bow and arrow combat might be simplistic, but it's endlessly entertaining and has enough depth that you'll be discovering new little tricks hours into your playtime. You can play cooperatively as well as competitively, too, which offers up a whole other challenge should you ever grow tired of the latter. With such simple controls, almost anyone can pick this up and have a blast.
FIFA has always presented an impressive array of options when playing locally, and FIFA 19 is no different. Your pals can jump in at almost any time, taking to the pitch together through co-op play. Joining your friend's game is as simple as adding your controller, and you can even play through whole seasons or specific tournaments side by side on the sofa. The best part is that FIFA allows for a huge number of difficulty options and simplified control schemes, meaning that anyone can get in on the fun.
It's hard to fault Diablo III as a local multiplayer game. Teaming up with your mates for a night of RPG action, complete with satisfying combat and mountains of loot, can hardly go wrong thanks to the inherent accessibility of Blizzard's masterpiece. The game may start out a little slow for some, but it won't be long before it hooks you and everyone else in the room with its perfectly paced adventures. A must-try when it comes to couch co-op.
This is the quintessential local multiplayer experience on PS4. Overcooked 2 introduces new levels, new recipes, and new gameplay features, but it retains its extremely low barrier to entry. Whether you're playing cooperatively or competitively, the challenge lies in communicating with other players and not letting the heat of the kitchen get to you as you fulfil orders. Incredibly simple gameplay means anyone can play, and the gameplay naturally leads to hilarious results every time. This is a real treat.
