The only bad thing we can say about Streets of Rage 4 right now is that there's still no word on if it's coming to PlayStation 4. A short gameplay teaser was shared back in March, and it's looking great, but it's hard to get excited until we know platforms.
Making the wait even harder is this new gameplay video, showing roughly 10 minutes of the game being played at BitSummit, the Japanese gaming exhibition, which has just come to a close. Even though it's off-screen footage rather than direct capture, it still looks wonderful, with punchy combat and ultra-crisp visuals. We spy a DualShock 4 on the control instructions below the TV, but it's likely just a PC setup with PS4 controllers hooked up.
Here's hoping we learn more about Streets of Rage 4 during E3. Are you excited for Dotemu's retro revival of this series? Eat a whole roast chicken off the floor in the comments below.

Very cool, looks like they're doing a great job with it.
It just looks bang on. I can't really fault anything I've seen so far (apart from the skills of the person playing as Axel).
Man the 2D graphics and animations are nice, remind me of dragon crown pro
streets of rage is sega genesis best game and best franchise.streets of rage 2 is the g.o.a.t.word up son
A game like this just screams that it needs to be on all systems. It just has too.
Looking good. Here's hoping for some fantastic music, too.
Axel is still too much of a podger, but this looks awesome. Soundtrack is the most important thing in the SoR series though!
Better have Mania skill level..
I will be shocked if it's not on PS4.
@NintendoFan4Lyf I know right the pic of the PS4 controller is a dead give away.
Looks great but essentially its no different to the million other beat'm'ups that came before it, right back to Double Dragon and including the original Streets of Rage. Good for nostalgia purposes sure, but gameplay has to be a bit old hat by now, surely?
@NintendoFan4Lyf spot on. It only makes sense that this would probably drop on every console, not just for the button configuration of consoles, but supporting local drop in/out play would really add to sales, I imagine
Amazing looking forward to this one Bareknuckle 2 was amazing the sound track still sounds great to this day and i love firing it up in a dark room with the sound cranked.
Beats of rage was good on the dreamcast.
Good to see an old fashioned scrolly beat-em-up in the Double Dragon/Final Fight vein. But yep,the lack of any confirmation on formats has me worried they're holding out for a possible console exclusive/timed exclusive deal. Loved Dragon's Trap...apart from the fiendish mouseman/human hidden worlds!
ps4 is guaranteed. not sure why anyone would be concerned about that.
"let's not release a 3rd party game on the highest selling platform this generation"... ah nope
@tomassi slapping hundreds of punks can never get old.
Any chance it will finally be out by end of summer?
I can't wait!!! (Ok not sure why I have to type more then I can't wait).
This looks good. Something I'd definitely play but it doesnt really seem to stand out all that much from other beat em ups apart from the nice animations. I like to think that in a different universe, this game was made by yakuza team
@Porco nothing is stopping a corporation from buying a form of exclusivity
looks at Epic Games
Can't wait, looks good.
The music is my main concern. I couldn't really make it out in the video, so who knows if it's any good, but it's not a real Streets of Rage game without Yuzo Koshiro being involved.
@Derpie1 epic games can only flex its power with pc ports... has nothing to do with the console releases.
@Porco yes Ik But I mean Console Manufacturers can also do such a thing. Money speaks!
Nintendo & Microsoft can do it. Sony can too.
@Derpie1 it has become quite uncommon these days... this game is not something that would warrant an exclusivity deal. it is a simple beat em up that will not push hardware. i think a ps4 and pc release is a given... it will likely find its way onto the switch as well at the very least but probably on x1 too.
DotEmu's games look fabulous. I wasn't sure about the style they were opting for when the game was first revealed, but, in motion, it looks extremely nice.
