Ghost of Tsushima (PS5)

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment / Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
Release Date: TBA

Status: Announced for PS4, but given development progress, an additional PS5 release seems plausible

Like Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima's release window is up for debate. We don't quite know how far into development the game is, and so a PS5 version, whether it's a cross-gen launch or an enhanced edition that hits after the PS4 release, seems feasible. Again, this one is dependent on developer Sucker Punch and Sony's management of the project, but we're willing to bet that a lot of these later PS4 games are going to be carried over to the next generation in some way.

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment / Developer: SCE Santa Monica Studio
Release Date: TBA

Status: Unannounced, but an educated guess

We already know that developer Sony Santa Monica is working on its next project, and given the outstanding success of God of War on PS4, a sequel is inevitable. Taking into account the development time of a potential project like this, it's reasonably safe to say that it'll launch on the PS5.

Guerrilla Multiplayer Shooter (PS5)

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment / Developer: Guerrilla Games
Release Date: TBA

Status: Unannounced, but in development

Guerrilla Games is a huge studio, packing over 400 employees these days. While it’s likely working on a sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn, then, there’s also strong speculation it has a new multiplayer project in the works. The Dutch developer re-hired the director of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege to work on an online-focused project, and given Sony’s vocal interest in multiplayer games, it’s likely that this will be a PS5 launch title designed to fill a hole.

Harry Potter RPG (PS5)

Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive / Developer: Avalanche Software
Release Date: TBA

Status: Unannounced, but strongly rumoured

We know that Warner Bros resurrected Avalanche Software to create a AAA title for consoles, and we also know that at one point it was working on some kind of Harry Potter-themed role-playing game. Prototype footage of the title, showcasing a character creator among other things, leaked online a while back – and the studio has continued to aggressively hire ever since. Given development schedules, it’s likely that this will be at least cross-gen – assuming it is still in production, after all.

Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment / Developer: Guerrilla Games
Release Date: TBA

Status: Unannounced, but an educated guess

Developer Guerrilla Games is hard at work on something, and you don't have to be a genius to assume that the project in question is a sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn. The new IP was a smash hit on PS4, and the studio's reputation for pushing hardware limits makes the hypothetical Horizon: Zero Dawn 2 a strong candidate to show off the upgraded power of the PS5. Whether it'll be a next-gen launch title is up for debate, but we wouldn't be at all surprised.
