Black Desert, or Black Desert Online, as it's often called, has been floating around in our PlayStation periphery for years. The MMORPG launched on PC an age ago, and it came to Xbox One earlier this year. It has a heavy focus on action, with totally over-the-top attacks wiping out whole groups of enemies in real-time combat. It's all incredibly flashy, and at one point, you could have probably called Black Desert the most visually appealing MMO out there.
Here in 2019 it's not quite as impressive as it once was, but it still looks gorgeous at times, and it's set its sights on PlayStation 4. All we have to go on right now is a "2019" release window, but we can't imagine that it's too far away. It's also worth noting that Black Desert is not a free-to-play MMO, as is so common these days, but it doesn't have a subscription, either. You just buy it, and that's that.
Having said that, there has been a bit of a backlash in recent years regarding the game's microtransactions, of which there are reportedly many. We'll have to see how it holds up on PS4 before jumping to any conclusions, though.

Been keeping an eye on this since the recent stupid changes in ESO. Good to see it's not a free MMO powered only by a blight of microtransactions needed to play the game.
I'm not sure if this game will give me sense of "at home" and "friendly community" like FFXIV.
and BIG MINUS is they dont have Catgirls do they?
Cute Cat Girls with fluffy ear and tail.
but maybe i gonna play it anyway for fun and relax, since it doesnt have subscription.
It's pretty cool, but the microtransactions are terrible. Most of them are cosmetic, but there are things called "Value Packs" that GREATLY decrease farming times by increasing resource gain.
They're practically necessary for the endgame grind, guilds, whale hunts, ect.
The cosmetic items are also especially eggregious as most of the armor in-game looks almost exactly the same.
It's a shame because the combat is great, and the character creator is the best I've seen in an MMO hands down, and probably the best I've seen.
@Sevenifity You sir... have good taste.
I've heard that the character creator is great in this. If it was free-to-play I'd download it just to faff about with that.
@Sevenifity Miqo'te's ftw.
@sanderson72 What are the recent stupid changes in ESO? (It's been a while since I played.)
@ShogunRok All the racial changes - the wood elves have had their stealth taken away and replaced with some stealth detection skill that doesn't work in PvE or PvP. There are a lot of Bosmer thieves and assassins who have retired now they can't do their jobs.
Add to that the poison/disease mix up between the Argonians and the Bosmer and the fact that the new chapter keeps mentioning how the Bsomer are good at thieving and how the Argonians are resistant to poisons, etc. It's just a mess and ZOS don't seem bothered despite multi-page petitions asking for a reversal.
