Final Fantasy VII Remake PS4 PlayStation 4

If Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to be divided up into multiple, large-scale releases, how many instalments are there going to be? It's a fair question, and one that'll probably have crossed the mind of every Final Fantasy fan since the game's showing at the Square Enix E3 presser. The first game will be purely based in Midgar, leaving plenty of the original game still unaccounted for. Will we need to buy three games? Five? Seven?

According to Kotaku news editor Jason Schreier, the answer is that no one knows. Not even the people working on the remake. Over on Twitter, Schreier posted an interesting snippet from an interview with Yoshinori Kitase, producer on the game:

If not even Square Enix knows the answer, we're all doomed. It seems the publisher is putting a ludicrous amount of effort into getting Final Fantasy VII Remake right, as the new gameplay looks fantastic, but how far into the future are we going to be before the end is in sight? It's all very uncertain -- but hopefully, once the first release is out the door, subsequent games won't take as long to roll around.

We'll just have to wait and see. Does this worry you? How many games do you think the remake will be split into? Place your bets in the comments below.
