Well, this is different. As it turns out, Devolver Digital's madcap 'Devolver Direct' showcase actually threw out a couple of game announcements, and one of them was Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Developed by Hatoful Boyfriend studio Mediatonic, this is a kooky, colourful multiplayer title inspired by the likes of Takeshi's Castle. Any game trailer soundtracked by Jump in the Line is alright by us.

Fall Guys pits 100 players against each other in online matches consisting of various mini games and obstacle courses. At the end of each round, all the qualifying players move onto the next, and so on until a victor is decided. Combine that with the sort of wonky physics seen in the likes of Gang Beasts, and it seems to be a recipe for hilariously chaotic multiplayer.

Winners will unlock various items to customise their Fall Guy with, while those who fell along the way will provide some "best-spectacular-failure replays" for participants to laugh at. It all sounds mad, but it could produce a lot of fun. It's certainly a different take on battle royale, if nothing else. The game is coming to PlayStation 4 next year.
