Yes! The rumours were real! Final Fantasy VII Remake has indeed returned, this time via a short teaser that was broadcast as part of Sony's latest State of Play episode.
Said teaser actually shows off a bit more of the project, and all told, it looks like it's coming along quite nicely. We get to see some combat as well as some cutscene clips.
Of course, as many predicted, we'll be getting more information at E3 2019, which is happening next month. Square Enix is hosting its own show at the event, so get ready for that.

Okay, I'll admit: I was dead wrong and I'm really happy about it. This looks great.
After all these years... I cannot believe this. And it looks so good as well!
Also, on the FF Instagram, they mention that "most of the plans are in place for the run up to launch". Maybe this isn't as far off as we all think?
The gameplay footage is filling me with dread.
I'm genuinely excited for E3 now!!!
Looks great!
Impressive. Are the Naruto team totally off this now? It’s come a long way by the looks of it.
I didn't expect this to actually show. It's a pity that I wasn't able to catch this live.
Looks good, though. I'm really excited to hear more about this.
Cool I guess but my hype is in check until a release date is announced.
Is Anybody Wondering Why Barret is Wearing Sun Glasses At Night
Is that turn based combat I see? Happy days if it is.
Ok im quiet it looks epic its my youth with upgraded graphics.
If the gameplay's more action-based than FFXV, I'll be happy.
@3Above I still think it’s so weird to have an E3 without Sony. It’s almost like Christmas with no Santa. Lol.
Day made.
Glad to see not much has changed since the last trailer. I was afraid it would essentially be 100% redone, but it looks stellar!
Looks really good. Can't wait. My only complaint is the cheesy voice acting. The more action-focused gameplay doesn't bother me, 96% of the original's combat was hammering X to attack, 3% healing when needed, 1% thinking a little bit because just repeatedly physically attacking wouldn't cut it for once.
I never was much of a fan of any game of this series, but man it looks really good.
Sure it look good, but I still cannot get myself to care much about it in general. When it first came out, I was disappointed in it because of the hype, and my expectations of it being better than VI. Sure I will probably end up buying it anyways, but this time around I come with zero expectations. Just worry on what they ruined to make it playable to todays market.
The highlight of the stream, not gonna lie.
Can't wait to see more during E3.
Looking good
Hmm it says ps4.. so it's coming out before ps5 release? Maybe still this year?
Call me hyped!!!
@Bliquid "I remember their plan to make it episodic, but..."
I've never forgotten. And until they specifically say otherwise, hopefully at E3, that's what I'm expecting. Hope I'm wrong. Part 1 on PS4 and Part 2 and/or 3 on PS5 would annoy me even more than the next GoW game likely being on PS5.
Yay! Now that KHIII is out they don't really have any excuse not to show us more. I'm glad it is still slated for the PS4. I'm playing through the original on the Switch (my first time ever, don't judge - I didn't get into Sony until the PS2), and I'm really looking forward to this incredible looking remake.
I'm getting the impression that this isn't really that far away and in all honesty it doesn't look a million miles away from the version we were shown 4 years ago. It is looking good though and my only concern would be that everything we've seen so far from back then up until now appears to be very early on in the original game
@carlos82 well it is a lot of game to remake to a high standard so it’s really possible it’ll be split into instalments, full price ones at that.
@kyleforrester87 I do remember them saying that a while ago but then again there are much bigger games today then what FFVII was. I'm not expecting this to be the full game, I just hope we at least get out of Midgar
@carlos82 with it being a remake I think we need to consider the entire story may have been reworked with completely different beats and narrative flow. I agree as a straight plot for plot copy of FF7 the first instalment (if that’s the route they go down) being only Midgar would be a bit disappointing. But you’ve got to think SE understand people’s expectations so while I’m sure not everyone will be happy I think they’ll at least end up with game that’s fun to play and a curiosity to fans of the original.
That clip of Sep at the end though. I am excite. Looks like they are throwing in some new scenes
OK that actually is looking really cool, feel a little more at ease after seeing that! I had this awful feeling the combat was going to be like Dissidia but glad to see it's a little more grounded (literally) than that.
That girl giving a flower to Cloud looks cute. I truly hope they end up together at the end of the game... Why is everyone looking at me like this? Did I say something wrong?
Yawn. I think they've got at least one full restart left in em. We'll see. On PS5 announcement day, if SE sees its shadow we'll have six more years of development.
@LordBeerus I know!!! But we'll make it through this together ✊🏽
