Here's a pleasant little weekend announcement for you: Star Ocean: First Departure R is coming to PlayStation 4. Back on the PSP, the very first Star Ocean game was given new life in the form of an enhanced remake named Star Ocean: First Departure. First Departure R is an HD remake of that remake.
Square Enix says that it'll have new features on PS4, but other than that, we've got nothing to go on. Further information is being teased, though, so stay tuned.

Finally, an actually good Star Ocean game for the PS4.
Happy to hear it. It’s been long enough to should be worth replaying and I enjoyed it the first time around. That makes four out of five Star Ocean games on PS4 doesn’t it.
@Frigate Rogue Galaxy is available on PS4 as a PS2 classic.

Sweet! I though they're going to stop making Star Ocean games, granted that this is a remake of a remake but I'm still happy and will buy this game when it comes out.

A part of my soul dies every time Square Enix announces a tri-Ace game that doesn't involve Radiata Stories aka the most under-appreciated game in existence.
I would love a remaster of Level 5's White Knight Chronicles. It didn't get the best reviews back in the day but I loved it.

@Areus That one was a straight port of the PSP game, while this is a remake. I wouldn't be surprised if Second Evolution also gets a remake for PS4 around or slightly after the PS5 launches.
Really looking forward to this. These games are so good, a shame the series dropped in quality and direction from 4 onwards.

First Departure on the PSP was great, only second to... well, The Second Story on the original Playstation. I loved JRPGs on the PS1, too bad the genre had to walk backwards after that.
