As if it comes as any surprise, Borderlands 3 sounds like it'll last you a heck of a long time -- and that's only if you focus on the main story. The series has always had lots of meat on its bones, and the hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 sequel appears to be continuing that trend.
Speaking to PC Gamer, the game's creative director Paul Sage said, "If you beeline it through, and I mean beelining it through, it might take you 30 hours to complete the main story." That sits roughly in line with Borderlands 2, but by the sound of it, the game will last you much, much longer if you want to take your time.

30 hours on the first play through? I plan on getting the vault hunters past the inevitable true vault hunter mode....4 vault hunters, 8...30 hour playthroughs.....so for me that's at least 240 hours of game time.

I to spent a LOT of hours each on previous Borderlands games and I only played through each once with just 1 character. There was a LOT more potential hours I could have sunk into these games.
Looking forward to getting my pre-order...
Played hours and hours of Borderlands 2 but somehow lost interest at a point but I think I managed to finish it. All the same I hope this is even more fun.
Good news, time for money its hard to beat the borderlands games. Even buying the $100 edition, im postive i will get a couple hundred hours out of it. Only a few months to wait!!

30 hours? In BL2 i spent at least that farming. If Borderlands 3 is 30 hours doing it beeline my play may be 60 hours or more.
Do I need to play 1&2 to play 3?
@NomNom don't know seeing as no one has got their hands on the complete game.... you have until September, thats 4 months. In that amount of time may be you should try them.
loved when they said no microtransactions and then cosmetics and xp boosts being sold was confirmed.
My interest has definitely piqued, dunno whether to get day one and it depends on what I'm playing around when it is out.
I really like that "white Rhianna" character. Pretty hot in a psychopathic murderer kind of way.
So it's 12-18 hours then.
