Wait, what's that? It's not April Fools Day yet? Huh, okay. There's a rumour doing the rounds that Dark Souls developer From Software is working on a new game in collaboration with A Song of Ice and Fire series author George R.R. Martin. Yes, you read that correctly.
Courtesy of internet scuttlebutt Liam Robertson in collaboration with the YouTube channel Spawn Wave, the rumour suggests that From Software is working on a new open-world IP. George R.R. Martin is one of the lead writers on the title, which will have you visiting a variety of kingdoms and stealing the abilities of its leaders once you kill them. Oh, and the cherry on top is that it'll be announced at E3 2019.
This is a rumour that's certainly out there to say the least, but our take on things? It's a load of rubbish. It has to be, surely? Anyway, what do you make of all this? Make a claim for the next Kit Harrington role in the comments below.

What’s interesting is that the author is known for his series explicit content, while From Sorware’s main director (Dark Souls 1,3 and Bloodborne) has talked about the effort he puts in his games to be tasteful. From also doesn’t need help writing games, so I’m doubtful of this one.
I'm doubtful of this rumour, though a Game of Thrones video game could be excellent if done right.

Eeh, I hope the rumor is not true, one of the things I like from From Software games is the world mystery/athmosphere, you can't have that with known ip like game of throne. It's a waste of From Software talent.

@Jaz007 I'd say it's the other way around. A (good) Game of Thrones game would require CDPR levels of writing. Whilst From Software's games are all great on their own, they aren't particularly known for their strong narrative. At least not the kind of narrative that would be fit for a GOT game. That's why I doubt it.
@wiiware the rumour doesn't suggests that they are working on a got game but rather a new ip, that being said the rumour is still not likely to be true.
This is old news that was leaked last year. It was already leaked that a Song of Ice and Fire game was planned, the only information we didn't have was who would be the developer.
How is it possible that I, a person who only glanced over one old leak about this a year ago, managed to figure this out while so-called "game journalist" couldn't put two and two together, how am I better at being a game journalist than actual game journalist?!

GRR Martin is way too busy to be directly involved in something like this surely?! He's turned down countless offers to finish his book. So not sure if this would be true.
With each of these 2 parties penchant for killing off main characters casually and unexpectedly, a collaboration makes sense 😉

Big name Fantasy writers have written the stories for games before so it's not that crazy. I hope it's not true, though, because he really needs to finish ASoIaF and stop doing side projects.
Judging by his book, A Dance With Dragons, the game will plod on for 1000 hours with not much happening.
I would love for a proper Game of Thrones game, it's unfortunate we've had garbage Lord of the Rings games for so long. I just want a proper RPG, any sub genre is fine.

You're welcome, but when using a name, better to include the full name. In this particular case, Martin can be a first name so may cause confusion. It's also worth noting 'FS' may refer to Fukuoka Studio, which may in turn cause added uncertainty. Keep practicing!
