The official main stage games lineup for Evo 2019 has been announced. This year's event is scheduled for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th August, and as per usual, nine different titles have been chosen.
Top players from around the world will be competing in tournaments for the following games:
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Samurai Shodown
- SoulCalibur VI
- Street Fighter V
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Tekken 7
- Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]
The two most notable additions are Mortal Kombat 11 and Samurai Shodown. Neither game is out yet -- with the former arriving in April and the latter due in the Summer -- so here's hoping that they're both tournament ready once Evo rolls around.
Unfortunately, one of last year's big games, Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev 2, won't be making it to the main stage this time, and Dead or Alive 6 -- releasing in just a few days -- is nowhere to be seen. It's also worth noting that Dragon Ball FighterZ, the most watched title of 2018's event, is now having its finals on the second last day of Evo 2019.
Taking its place on the 4th August alongside Tekken 7, Street Fighter V, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, which is rather unexpected. The order of the final day's tournaments is yet to be decided, however.

"Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]"
And the award for "Worst Title For A Game On This List" goes to...
On a side note, it is weird not seeing Dead or Alive 6.
Remove Under Night and replace with DOA 6 unless they are trying to make the event family friendly. If that's the case why is mild nudity not family friendly but grinding your opponent into a pile of bloody meat acceptable?
No DOA6 huh?
'Core Values'
That is all.
Samurai Shodown on that list. Not that I’m complaining about that but it seems too early for it.
I'm glad Under Night is on the lineup, but I'll admit I forgot about the new Samurai Shodown. That should probably hold off this year, and put Guilty Gear or DOA on it instead.
They FINALLY retired Super Smash Bros. Melee from the event! Took them long enough. xD
Yes, Melee is finally gone!
Surprisingly most at Nintendo Life are happy about this decision too, showing it really had gotten old for most folks, despite its apparent popularity.
The new streamlined list is good but no Dead or Alive is confusing...
I wasn't expecting DOA6 after what happened at EVO Japan but it seems like a solid game... Als, the game that closed the event last year was SFV.
I guess they didn't appreciate the Core Values meme xD
Dead or Alive games aren’t exactly great for genuine fighting so I can understand why 6 isn’t here.
They should removed Samurai Shodown we don't even know if it's going to be good and add Dead or Alive 6 it's one of the only fighting games that I'm actually decent against good players, such a shame not to see the majesty of the fan service of DoA6 but at least we get to see 2B in SoulCalibur VI
@Feena Oh yeah, you're totally right. I've updated the article.
I guess I was thinking of DBFZ being the most watched.
When I saw Under Night & Samurai Shodown I was like “what the buck are these games? Never heard of em...”
I am curious what announcements will be made at EVO this year tho
Also I wonder if Smash haters while happy that Melee is removed isn’t satisfied because Smash Ultimate is there & Smash overall needs the 👢 “cus not a Fighting game” or some other bullheck like that...
@ShogunRok I think it had the highest number of participants but it had a pretty huge drop this year. Tekken and SF have done consistent numbers every year.
I also would prefer doa6 to MK11 any day
@Tsurii I agree with you there. Melee fans are a different breed.
