Every console accessory requires a rails shooter, and while there was reasonable concern that Until Dawn: Rush of Blood would undo all of Supermassive Games’ superb work in its narrative driven teen thriller, this is actually an entertaining accompaniment. Set up like a fairground ride, the dual-wielding gunplay is really entertaining, while there are some great set-piece jump scares here that will have your heart racing.

19. Farpoint (PS4)
On a standard screen with an “ordinary” pad, Farpoint would be forgettable at best – but it’s elevated by virtual reality and PSVR Aim Controller support. Physically looking down the barrel of a weapon replicated in 3D space never gets old, and while the campaign is generally quite linear and lacking in variety, there’s a surprisingly solid sci-fi story here that will push you through to the action-packed conclusion. Meanwhile, additional arcade and online challenges add longevity to the experience, making this a must-own.
18. Déraciné (PS4)
FromSoftware returns to its adventure game roots with this thoughtful narrative about a boarding school frozen in time. With strong voice acting, great world building, and a compelling art style, this may not be the most compelling title from a gameplay perspective, but it lures you into its universe as you slowly unfurl its fiction.
Sprint Vector should by rights have you chundering like a rich kid on a gap year, but Survios’ rollerskates racer keeps your breakfast where it belongs – despite it moving at frighteningly fast speeds. A clever control mechanic which sees you swinging your arms and a wealth colourful environments means that this physically demanding run-‘em-up will keep you engaged for marathon play sessions.
16. Statik (PS4)
Your hands are tied and you’ve got to figure out a way to get them out. A series of puzzle boxes set inside a nefarious science facility, Statik is one of the standout puzzle experiences on PSVR. Smart from start to finish, the game’s difficulty is pitched perfectly, meaning that it’s able to provide those all-important “a-ha” moments without ever frustrating. A brilliant backdrop complements the conundrums, culminating in something of a sleeper hit.
