Geoff Keighley is putting the hype train into high gear for this year's Game Awards show. The event, which is just over a week away, will not only reward many of this year's biggest and brightest games and studios, but it'll also play host to a record number of announcements. According to a new tweet from Keighley's account, the number of new titles to be unveiled at The Game Awards 2018 will go into double figures.
Not only will we see more than 10 new games announced at the show, we'll also be treated to "updates on existing titles", so expect to see some new trailers for previously shown games too. This is starting to sound more like an E3 presser than an awards ceremony, isn't it?

It's great that they're announcing more than 10 new games. As for existing AAA games, I just want release dates instead of more new footages.

Might as well just give up on it been an actual awards show at this point when everyone is more bothered about reveals. I mean people don't tune into the Oscars every year to see the new Marvel trailer do they?

Very nice. The awards per se are irrelevant.(public vote? Come on. Gimme a break. Some people even vote every 24 hours) It's the announcements, trailers and general gaming stuff that matters.

@AdamNovice I dunno. I think these shows have found a nice balance and are just about the best they're ever going to be. I enjoyed last year's one.
The thing is they're expensive to produce and I don't think enough people would tune in JUST for the awards, which is an unfortunate reality.

@Callmegil They will give the award for Red Dead Redemption 2, no doubt about that.
In 2016, they gave it to Overwatch instead of Uncharted 4.
@PS_Nation A man can hope right? Red Dead 2 is REALLY good, but God of War and Spider-Man were top of the line in my opinion this year.

I’d been saying for a long time that this was going to happen at PSX this year, then they decided not to do that. So I think this is 99% certain to happen at the Game Awards instead.
It’s ready, so they must just be holding it for somewhere to get it as much exposure as possible.
@get2sammyb If Geoff Keighley is only bothered by ratings and doing a lavish production then he might as well do a end of year show instead. Because it undos the whole vision of an actual award ceremony to be taken seriously. Even last year the actual awards felt like an afterthought cos they needed to show the next trailer. I maybe funny but when a show is called The Game Awards I expect to be about the awards not what company X is advertising cos isn't that what things like E3, Gamescom and PSX are for?
I'm really looking forward to it even though it's all kind of a circle jerk, but I'm sure I'll enjoy one or two of the reveals.
