In this God of War guide, we’re going to introduce the best armor and how to unlock it.

God of War: Best Armor and How to Unlock It

On this page, you'll find a guide to God of War's best armor and how to unlock it.

What Is the Best Armor?

The best armor in God of War is the Mist Armor, and you can obtain it using Mist Echoes in Niflheim. You can find out how to learn the language of Niflheim through the link.

How Do You Unlock the Best Armor?

Once you’ve travelled to Niflheim via the World Tree, Sindri will award you a Favor where you'll need to collect 500 Mist Echoes to exchange for the key to Ivaldi’s Workshop. It’s worth mentioning that the Niflheim dungeon is randomly generated and if you die while exploring it then you’ll lose everything. You can learn a little more about how to retrieve all treasure from the Niflheim workshop’s center chamber through the link.

Once you’re in the workshop, you’ll find nine pieces of Ivaldi’s Rusted Armor: three chest pieces, three waist pieces, and three wrist pieces. You can then use these pieces to craft three full chest, waist, and wrist armor pieces. Your options include:

  • Deadly Mist Armor: Strength, Runic, Defense, Vitality.
  • Cursed Mist Armor: Strength, Runic, Defense.
  • Endless Mist Armor: Strength, Defense, Vitality.

Each piece of armour will start at Level 7 before you even upgrade, making it the best armor in God of War. However, it’s worth noting that you’re going to need to spend a lot of time in Niflheim in order to upgrade the sets, as in addition to Mist Echoes you’ll need items like Haze Weaves, Niflheim Alloy, and Aesirbane to improve them.

Where Do You Find Haze Weaves, Niflheim Alloy, and Aesirbane?

Resources like Haze Weaves, Niflheim Alloys, and Aesirbane are required to upgrade the best armor in God of War. You’ll find all of these by opening chests in the randomly generated dungeons of Niflheim. Just keep exploring and killing enemies until you have enough of these items to upgrade your gear at one of Sindri’s shops. Remember that if you perish before escaping Niflheim’s randomly generated dungeon you’ll lose your progress, so be cautious in your approach.
