Blizzard seems pretty confident that cross-platform play will eventually be added to Diablo III. Speaking to Business Insider Australia, a representative said that it's "a question of when, not if". No beating around the bush there, then.
There are no details to go on yet, but with the Nintendo Switch version of the game around the corner, you can only assume that the developer wants to unite Diablo III players across all platforms. We could learn more at BlizzCon early next month, as big Diablo news has already been promised.

I thought this bull was done guess we get every game as news with crossplay.
Oh wow I can't wait. Like any normal person I have around three friends, none of which really play video games. They'll be as stoked as I am to hear this I'm sure.
@Flaming_Kaiser Well, yeah. It'll be news as games add it. I'll take this over the constant whining about it not being added because Sony won't allow it, though.
Good. Now people on different systems can play together. Just because you (generic you) won't use it doesn't mean others won't. This can only be a good thing.
A year ago yes, but now I just want diablo 4 immediately. But this will help ease the impatience.
@get2sammyb True. All those dev's who were holding there games for ransome if Sony didnt add crossplay were clearly full of it. They likely already knew it was being worked out and just wanted to score points with the public. I'll be glad when this is no longer newsworthy 😪
This is great news as all my high level characters are on the PS4.
@Cutmastavictory If they are indeed working on a Diablo 4 I suspect it will be for the next gen. I just have that feeling.
This is good news for those who want to play it with friends on other consoles but I've heard enough about people hacking the PS4 version to know I have no intention of ever going online with it again.
@Gatatog the hackers are present on both systems and especially non seasonal. I don't play non season because of that.
@Tasuki it will definitely be on next gen, but diablo 3 came out on ps3 before the ps4, so I would think that might happen again, but im hoping. But i trust blizzard to make the best decision to produce the best game.
Maybe with Crossplay allowed they can finally pull the trigger on bringing Hearthstone to consoles.
@Cutmastavictory Yeah, I have a seasonal character on the go but I love going back to the Crusader I've been playing since the day it released on PS4. I know if I take her online, it'll just mess things up in some way. Is seasonal hacker free? Have Blizz implemented a way to keep them away from that? I'd love to go online with my seasonal character if that is indeed the case.
@Gatatog I only play seasonal. And while the is a way to cheat online seasonal, you can't really affect someone else. The leader boards are affected, but I don't care about that too much. I've been hacker free on seasonal for 2 years.
@Ralizah Others won't use it too because the game is more dead then my grandma if you want to play hack and slash play Path Of Exile Playstation fans should be demanding for that game to come to ps4 and get crossplay because games like that deserve all the praise.
