Destiny 2: Forsaken Will Include Previous Two Expansions Starting Next Week

I feel like I've been hearing about Forsaken forever, but I've never heard of Warmind and only briefly recall Curse of Osiris, but that was a Tomb Raider digital game.

Did Forsaken release same time D2 went on PS+? So this sort of makes sense, hope the PS+ folk pay for stuff, then after that bundle the stuff.

It's October, holidays are growing near, the shopping season has begun, nobody should be surprised at this. Sure it's annoying for people who just bought stuff, but it's always annoying when stuff goes on sale right after you buy it, which is why it's best to only buy stuff on sale. 😆 On sale or games with no DLC to bundle in later, the bundles almost always come. Well except for annual games, people just buy the new one.

Just completed the base campaign last night - and got to level 20 - which pissed me off as there are level 50's running around and I didn't realise the level-cap was a paid-for privilege with the expansions. I didn't play much of the original Destiny or do much research into this one, but really I should have known that would be the case.

Regardless, I've not got the expansions yet so will hold off until they're bundled together. Are there more to come or is this everything we're going to get?

@frabbit there is an annual pass you can buy on top of Forsaken which gives 3 lots of content but they have been a bit vague on what that content will be just saying it wont be proper story content.

Makes buying Forsaken more attractive but a lot of people who probably wanted forsaken have it already.

I know it may be 'disappointing' to have bought Destiny 2's first year DLC at the time where as now they are practically giving it away, but the reality is that the DLC is pretty much redundant now with Forsaken. Of course you gain access to those areas it introduced, the story, the raised level cap and any new gear too but the reality is that its now more of a stepping stone to Forsaken. Its more likely that 'new' gamers will blast through it to get their level up rather than spend the hours that most of us did when that content was fresh.

@frabbit Every expansion raised the level cap - Its ridiculous to expect those who reached the level cap in Destiny 2 before the first DLC to remain capped through each new successive expansion. I have no doubt that Bungie will raise the level cap with the new paid for expansions through year 2 - just like they did throughout the previous 4yrs of Destiny (the 3yrs of D1 and first year of D2).

Destiny isn't a traditional FPS game in its format - its not like Halo or CoD. The expansions don't just add a few extra MP maps but also new gear etc to obtain. Its all well and good having new gear, but if it adds nothing - other than cosmetic - its hardly worth going after - might as well stick with the armour you have rather than chase new gear that can make you more powerful. Other RPG's, like World of Warcraft (I believe - not that I play it) offer expansions with increases to level cap with new gear to chase after to improve your stats.

Most of the 'story' is there more as an introduction to the world of Destiny or the Expansion, setting the scene for what comes in the end game, getting your 'level' up to the max before you then have the end game to raise your power level. Level 20 (or 50 in the case of Forsaken) isn't the 'end' of the grind. Its the 'light' level that's most important. You can't do a Raid just because you have reached max level, you may not even be able to do any damage to the enemies - its the light level that matters. All the levelling does is allow you to equip certain light level gear and once 'max', give you steadfast engrams to acquire Eververse items without having to spend any 'real' money.

@BAMozzy I agree it wouldn't be fair to expect people who reached the cap before the expansions to remain at that level, but my point was that I hadn't given it much thought until it occurred. Not a slight on the game, just my personal experience.

I assume until I get the expansion I'm still able to keep increasing my light level through new gear? Basically, is there any point in me actually playing through any raids etc. right now before I get the expansions?

After the fans ready bought everything else and those that picked up forsaken had to buy the previous dlcs. This is some shady stuff.

@frabbit - no, your light level is also capped depending on the content you own, so for the base game it's level 20, and max light level is around 300, i think. for the two expansions that followed, the max level is 30, and max light level is 400. once you hit a certain threshold, the increments really slow to a crawl towards 300/400.

@frabbit The content you have access to is capped at that level essentially. There is little point in me playing the Raid you have access to because the gear I have is at a MUCH higher level than the rewards I would get. From your perspective though, the rewards are going to be the 'best' you can get unless you buy the DLC. If you do, I believe the Raid will drop higher light gear (up to 380) but the raid itself is capped at 300 for 'heroic' level because that's the Max light level of the base D2 experience.

Its a good idea to do the raids anyway. They often provide some of the best weapons (the Inaugural Address Pulse is the current top in the PvP meta) and it can be infused up to the Max light level you have access too - in my case 600. The Raids are some of the most challenging and most co-operative experiences in gaming. Learning how to do them, co-ordinating with your team etc is the pinnacle of Destiny's end game content and, in my opinion, what makes Destiny. The experience is certainly worth it.

I'm still not clear on what I got with PSN+ last month, the grame tile says forsaken and I cannot buy any sort of upgrade so I'm unclear on what I have.

I’m sure it’s just coincidence that they’re doing this just days after CoD comes out 😉
