After a surprisingly tempered reaction to the game when it was announced at E3 2018, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is looking really impressive with each new video. This latest snippet of gameplay from PlayStation Underground drives home that, despite a plethora of gameplay changes, this is every inch a FromSoftware game.
Its combat appears to be much faster, and movement has been massively expanded; your grappling hook allows you to slingshot to higher ground or cross large gaps, and you can even take a stealthier approach to taking down enemies. Despite your new options, combat doesn't look any more forgiving than in From's other games. We also get to see a new area in the game, where you'll face off against a mini-boss called the Corrupted Monk. All in all, it's looking fantastic.
Are you excited for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice? Watch out for giant snakes in the comments below.

I love the look of this.
looks fantastic.
yes it's different but you can still some souls elements.
tbh i don't see why everybody seems to be meh about this game
this game looks amazing. top 5 die or alive game.word up son
please Activision dont f!@#$ this up..
Excellent! Looks very impressive.
Looks great, I can see the tenchu influence, sneaking around from above ceiling and back to hiding after killing the enemy, it's more combat focused than tenchu though. Also lol at the sweet old lady
Looks like Bloodborne combat with jumping abilities. I like it.
Looks better than Soulsborne, but I think I'll wait for Ghost of Tsushima.
I didn't really dig the souls games but this looks pretty good. I'll give it a try if there's a demo.
Maybe it received a tempered response because we've gotten so many souls games and clones over the past few years. I looked at it, I like the souls games, but this did nothing for me to get me excited to dodge roll AND grapple at the same time. Too much of a good thing I guess.
As a huge fan of DS and BB, Im really looking forward to this. I expect the combat to be top notch, looks really good.
Aye looks good, have they said what approach they are taking to narrative? I love piecing things together in FROM games but I wonder if it's time to be a bit less obtuse
I'm so looking forward to this, I thought DS was great, near perfect, until I played Bloodborne, and I'm hoping this keeps my From romance alive and well
Still not like Tenchu...
I've never played the Dark Souls games before so hopefully I'll enjoy this one.
@KidBoruto as inexpensive as they are, now would be a great time to check them out!
I've already seen enough of this game to get this on day one. Roll on next March!
Hm, did not like DS and BB, so I'll skip this one too by the looks of it. I'll scratch my samurai/ninja itch with Ghost of Tsushima.
@jdv95 Too many people associate a faster pace with 'easier'. If the gamepace is slow, it must be a more difficult game they would argue. From the videos I've seen by EpicNameBro and similar, people who have actually played a demo of the game, Sekiro is just as challenging as the DS and BB games. Being published by Activision also seems to have rubbed lots of people the wrong way.
The thing is, if this game actually was easier and less frustrating than DS and BB, I would be interested in playing it. Yet from what I've seen and heard, it's not any easier at all, (i.e. just as frustrating to me). Hence my lack of excitement for it.
Looks fantastic. Can't wait for this one
Finally I have another game to buy at Day 1 since Dark Souls 3. Unfortunately the limited edition is available only at GameCrap...
@ellsworth004 I already own everything Dark Souls except for DS1 Remastered, waiting for a deeply discounted sale ($16 New with Best Buy GCU or a $15 BF sale).
@KidBoruto but you've never played them?
@ellsworth004 I've played a little bit of either Demon's or Dark Souls 1 on PS3 but never got past the first level with the giant boss.
@KidBoruto they are not for everyone, but if u like challenging games with alot of depth I would definitely recommend them, they can be very irritating games, u just have to get the right mindset of I'm going to die alot, I'm going to lose everything I've worked so hard for, that's kinda the point of DS I think, overcoming adversity
@ellsworth004 Sadly I lack the free time anymore to invest in games like that...downside to working 40+ hours weekly.
