Dwellers will begin to emerge from Vault 76 on 30th October, when Fallout 76’s B.E.T.A. is scheduled to get underway. You’ll need an eligible pre-order in order to secure a Break-It Early Test Application, but even then servers won’t be running 24/7 according to publisher Bethesda: “They’ll be online during targeted timeframes so we can get as many people as possible playing at the same time.”

The company seems to want to break the game prior to launch, which is an honourable ambition – we’re not sure why it’s limiting access to pre-orders, though, if that’s the case. “On any given day the game might be up for anywhere between four to eight hours. Focusing as many players as we can into these windows is our prime objective. Then we’ll fix what we need to fix and do it again.”

Elsewhere, the firm’s released the opening movie from the online-centric spin-off, and you can watch that above. It’s fairly standard fare stuff, although it does delve into some narrative justification for the existence of Vault 76 – and the type of people that entered into it. Are you looking forward to this game – or do you keep forgetting it exists?
